Sorry, but I don’t really think it’s denial. I think there’s widely accepted acknowledgment among those groups. However their individual concerns for themselves and their families don’t always change as a result. Basically I’m suggesting a lot of people in the buckets you highlighted would probably say the recent leak and path forward for abortion is bleak, wrong, etc. But at the same time they’re saying, “My money is now worth 10% less and I have less of it overall because the market is cratering…My individual priority is how im going to afford my home, feed my family, retire at some point, etc.” That’s not denial.

I see your point. Same over here. The Tories have just pushed through a bill to take over the Electoral Commission, bring in mandatory id for voters and criminalise noisy protests. Yes either people dont know or just dont care. Or they are too concerned about the cost of living to focus on other stuff

Hopefully we will see a reaction in the elections today

But if we all ignore things that dont personally affect us, we are doomed.

Yeah pretty much this, and it has to come from both sides, and god forbid actual compromise in some cases *gasps*. That can’t happen though because everyone thinks in absolutes and just defaults to, “If you’re not with me then you’re my enemy.” We’re basically governed by competing Sith Lords now.

Problem is how do you compromise with extermists. We are past compromising so the only way to stop GOP and the Tories is to oust them

It's a bit delusional/reactionary if 1) one blames the party in power and 2) believes the other party will "solve" their issues related to the economy. However, it is clear which party will return women, gay people and non-Christians to second-class status.

That said, I understand many voters are not fully rational actors.

Over here we are always expected to bring ID when voting - all my life that has been the way.

There was a saying years ago - "vote early and often".

It can go wrong though - I was working as an overseer in my local polling station. Each party was entitled to have someone present. This bloke came in to get his papers and the clown representing one of the parties checked his list and, I kid you not, said "But you are dead!" :) Obviously his party had made a serious mistake in checking the Electoral Register

When does this not happen though? Leaders can only be judged by what they do with the hand their dealt, and they’ll always be judged by how they deal with the issues people care about most. Right now the data says people care most about the issues I highlighted, and they’re not particularly happy with the administration’s response/handling of nor contribution to the situation. When that happens the general thought is, “well, I guess I’ll try something else,” and since there’s only one alternative because our system is broken, people will move that direction.

And no, people in general are not rational. Add politics to the mix and it’s even worse.

That's the delusional/reactionary response I referenced. Nobody likes that inflation is high and rational discussion with non-rational actors about it being a worldwide problem not "fixable" by any Administration is difficult. In addition, it's very rare for any first-term POTUS' party to wins seats in the midterms. So, yes, Biden is likely swimming upstream.

That said, I do believe there is potentially an opening for them if the SCOTUS does scuttle Roe.

Because he's using it in his reasoning for forcing women to have children, like they are cattle to be bred!!
The point in that section is that there will be homes for children if they are brought to full term. It’s true. There are so many couples who want to adopt children. Believe it’s well over a million couples who currently want to adopt.
I have a number of friends who, due to infertility, desire to adopt. It’s a very lengthy process.

So you are saying women should be forced to have children they dont want, so other people can adopt them. Really?
