General strike/protest

You are sticking with the politics.....to withdraw medical assistance is the worst form of selfishness I can think of.....it's not on......and there will be some on here who will feel this when it happens.........

Again I say to you the solution lies with the executive (Government), besides senior doctors have pledged to maintain all emergency and immediate medical services required.

Medical staff are a breed apart. They enter the profession because of a burning desire to help people at their (medical) time of need - we need not worry about their commitment to providing medical services, however we must worry about the current Govenment's commitment to funding this provision.

Fine, it's the governments fault. I accept this.......but when the Doctors freely, and of their own volition, walk out, I truly hope that neither yourself nor any of your family and friends have to suffer as a result......

If, like the Tories stated, they want a safer 24/7 service in the NHS then they would have left the juniors alone and made sure they changed the Consultant contract to ensure safer care 7 days around. The fact is they won't, they didn't expect this level of fight from the juniors, they are more wise to try and win an argument with senior medical staff because they know and we all know, they wouldn't stand a chance. When this new contract is imposed in August it will not make the NHS safer at a weekend because there'll be no more doctors than there is now. If it is about the money like the defenders believe then why didn't the government just come out and say that it's a way of saving money instead of spouting unsubstantiated rubbish. That's what has got to the juniors and why they are doing what they are doing. If your appointment or kids surgery gets cancelled it's because of those ignorant idiots in government and nothing to do with the hardworking people who for the other 363 days of the year will look after everyone's loved ones.

What answer did you give........was it Yes or No.......
I told you it was a ridiculous question because the t&cs for being a soldier differ to those of being a doctor. The whole point of striking is to inconvenience. Doctors aren't doing it to put lives at risk. If you genuinely think they are, you show a serious lack of respect.

No one is disagreeing with you. But withdrawing medical services should not be done, and that is what many are arguing...

But your argument previously had been about the government changing the juniors contract and their right to do so. If you have now accepted they are wrong to do that but you don't agree with a strike then I'm glad you have admitted that.

I think you are doing Doctors a great disservice by suggesting they would act in a manner potentially injurious to their patients.

How else can it be viewed. I am a Doctor but I won't do the necessary work that I normally do today.........I am a Soldier defending my country in a war but I think I'll have a day off........

I think if you read my posts then you may be surprised........

Now I understand. They are withdrawing medical services in order to help their patients and will refuse any additional payments offered by the government.......got it.......

It's all about T's & C's........
