General strike/protest

Absolutely. It's a real shame that people can't see what the real damage will be.

Just for once, forget the politics, forget taking sides, forget having a go at the Tories or whoever........just imagine if your child needed an operation and it was cancelled.......

No mate. This is a political answer. I don't give a stuff about Hunt. I do care about Doctors turning their backs on patients and no matter who you believe was to blame for this the responsibility lies with the Doctors and the BMA. This is not about making cars, building trains or digging coal. This is about life and death to our nearest and dearest. If you truly think this is political or just point scoring then I am sorry for you. This is life and death to many........

Again any evidence at all that people will die, is incredibly uncouth otherwise

So once again, for all of you who support the strike.....

So in a period of war, would you be happy for our armed forces to go on strike..........

Answer it and be honest.......

Until you provide evidence that people are dying due to this strike (and you've admitted you haven't got any) then the comparison is pointless

If we can redistribute, means the nhs is overstaffed
No, it means that staff who were scheduled to have a day off will be called in. Those who were scheduled to be doing paperwork will have to work on the shop floor. Non essential procedures will get cancelled so that staff are freed up for emergency care.

All manageable for short periods of time. Not sustainable long term.

That's all pretty obvious really isn't it, unless you have some sort of agenda

Forget about anyones child, think about what is good for the NHS in the long run. I get that you believe they shouldn't strike and can understand that, but when the whole medical profession are saying this is not good in the long run then I believe patient care will be better served to not impose a contract on juniors but to ensure you work together with them to ensure the service is as safe to the public as possible. If they had come out and said they're changing the Consultant contract to make sure there is more senior cover at the weekend then I would be in full support because that would make the NHS safer at the weekend. The juniors have always been there at the weekend and always will. Cutting their money whilst not actually changing anything resource wise will not make anything safer for the public.

The responsibility lies with the Government. I have never met a medical professional who chose their career for financial gain.

This is a political decision by Hunt, it is he and his team who are playing politics with the lives of patients.

Rather than consider the cost of everything, why can't the Government consider the marginal increase in cost of providing a true 7 day health system as an investment in the country's well being.

Better health care equals better health outcomes which reduces health and benefit costs in the future. It's time the Government accepted this and moved on from blind political dogma.

It all sounds as though really there isn't a strike at all, no one will be standing outside of hospitals, and everyone will carry on as normal.......I think I just saw a pig fly by.......
