General strike/protest

This is a very poor response. So it's about how long the strike for.......why not just 5 minutes, or an hour or half a day....a patient can die in 5 minutes.....not everyone on strike can be covered by those who chose not to......it is a self serving action and for a supposed medical profession is an absolute disgrace......there will be people who die and people who's quality of life will suffer.......and the blame rests with those 'professionals' who withdrew labour.........

Do you have any evidence to suggest people are dying due to the strikes?

When an establishment man like Sir Bruce Keogh calls Hunt's decision to impose contract terms on junior doctors "one of the saddest days I have seen in the NHS" then it is clear where the problem is.

Keogh, a long time advocate of a "7 day NHS" has actially stated that Hunt's decision to impose a contract "derails" the chance of a 7 day NHS.

Anyone believing that the problem lies not with Hunt but with junior doctors is playing politics with the NHS and the medical well being of patients.

Any reduction in medical care as a result of industrial action lies firmly with Hunt, not junior doctors - to suggest otherwise demonstrates a complete lack of understanding or pure political gamesmanship at the expense of patients.

Nice try, but you still haven't answered the question.....

So in a period of war, you would be happy for our armed forces to go on strike..........

Go on just say what you really believe........
I believe that you go into professions knowing the terms and conditions.

I also believe that if there was national crisis, requiring all doctors to work, then all doctors would. Why don't you ask if I'd be happy for doctors to strike whilst we're not at war?

But they are on strike because they will not get excellent overtime pay anymore and that's what it comes down to

No mate....but if they don't then why do we need all these doctors and the NHS. So I'm assuming that Doctors and the NHS actually help to keep people alive, therefore if it goes away for a day I'd expect 1/365th of the people that the NHS saves to die.......approximately.......

More tosh. Redistribution of available resources, prioritising care and generally managing the situation properly will ensure that won't happen.

Well TBH I find it extremely uncomfortable to use hypothetical deaths as a political tool.

Absolutely. It's a real shame that people can't see what the real damage will be.

How's it not going too. In your way of thinking that means we don't need them. As them not being there will not impact on the chances of patients dying

You do realise that more qualified doctors are covering for them while they are on strike right?

They can't cover them full time obviously but you know that

No mate. This is a political answer. I don't give a stuff about Hunt. I do care about Doctors turning their backs on patients and no matter who you believe was to blame for this the responsibility lies with the Doctors and the BMA. This is not about making cars, building trains or digging coal. This is about life and death to our nearest and dearest. If you truly think this is political or just point scoring then I am sorry for you. This is life and death to many........
