Schneiderlin was boss on Saturday, makes the game look effortless. His positional sense and covering was superb, mad a couple of perfectly timed tackles and shielded the back line perfectly. I said during the game that he's the perfect replacement for Barry.

Problem is he started 11 of 30 of those games in central midifled not as a defensive midfielder, the game he saw red in - he was actually playing central mid against chelsea not as a defensive midfielder, he also recieved 5 bookings all season - which hardly describes this player with a poor disciplinary record does it.

BTW, if he was so poor in that role - then how come United record when he played was massively better in terms of results and in terms of goals conceded than when he wasnt playing?

As for facts - he played 26 times in the premier league in the first season under LVG mate, not 29 - perhaps your confusing league cup games and adding them to league games (they are different competitions), care to list the other 7 'worst offenders at giving fouls away that season Dave? - i have a sneaky feeling you won't provide those names though as they may actually contain some very good defensive midfielders - and perhaps one Gareth Barry on that list as well

This was a typical Van Gaal set up with United including Schneiderlin:

If you cant accept what everyone in the game accepts that Van Gaal played Schneiderlin way deeper than he had ever been used before then there really is no accounting for what you think is in front of your eyes in a game. He was a defensive midfielder for United. How could he get a game ahead of that with United's players like Herrera, Mata even Fellaini above him in the pecking order.
