Game Of Thrones: Season 8

That last one was a bit of a bore to be honest, looked like the ending was laying down a few starts for a few spin off john and the wildlings, Arya off on a journey.
Couple of things left me wondering were did the Dothraki get off to, did they go with the The unsullied and who is the ruler of their lands under there control across the sea?
The gifting of the unsullied of a land/house of their own was a bit empty as they haven't got a cock between them so it would be a pretty short lived house?
On the whole enjoyed the show just seemed to run out of steam a bit last few weeks.

HBO wanted 9/10 episodes but the writers were obviously struggling to stretch it out, those IMDB figures say it all.

I agree the first half of the last episode was ok, you could see there was going to be conflict between Snow and Daenerys once she started the genocide in rage, I was thinking at that point he might off her here.

But it was then too rushed, and they didn't tie off the stories for all the characters you invested in for 9 years properly.

Yup the first part of the last episode was good - but then they jumped from Jon killing Dany to them selecting Bran as king! It could have done with at least another 30 minutes to blend in the episode.

If you look back to season 2 where Dany has her dragons taken from her by Pyat Pree in Qarth you will see Dany has a dream sequence that shows her in a destroyed building looking at the iron throne and what looks like snow everywhere - just like the final episode. So I think the final episode was always going to be Dany close to achieving her goal (the iron throne) but then having it taken from her at the last. So I really can't blame the writers for the story but I can blame them for rushing it all.

The 1st 2 episodes of the final season set the scene well at winterfell and then they made some stupid errors with the battle against the night king - then it all started to become too rushed - the entire series IMO should have been 12 episodes each of 1 hour. That would have allowed the storyline to flow better

lol

Quite obvious what would happen when she touched the throne but didnt get a chance to sit on it...

So many things they could have done but couldnt be bothered...

Yep.

10 eps would have been fine, at least it would have had time to develop naturally (even if the outcome was the same).
This really is the crux of it. In total agreement.

The story needed to flow better and show rather than tell. For example, the first episode could have been half of what was there, the Battle of Winterfell over 2 episodes. Some very excellent scenes and moments but a lot of the other stuff just let the show down.

I don’t think even ten episodes would have been enough, still would have been way too rushed... Jon and Danny’s love story happened in the space of about three episodes and her descent into madness took one episode. That stuff should have happened over multiple seasons.

Totally agree, it was 2 series IMO at least

What was the point in that Nymeria scene in season 7? Another subplot completely forgotten about.

Nymeria had left her former life behind when she left Arya in the forest instead of going back to Winterfell. It was a reflection of Arya's journey and foreshadows her choice to head West of Westeros. It was a scene rather than a sub-plot.

Imagine if Tyrion as the hand is wheeling Brann around? Be like Little Britain.

He’ll be the most easily dethroned king you could think of. Just push him off the dock.

Also how did that room survive where they had the meeting????

That's why a King has a Kingsguard - pushing a knife into someones back is easier than pushing a wheelchair off a dock, it's just a matter of getting close enough.

Not every building was demolished and that scene does happen quite a long time (weeks/months) after the The Battle of Kings Landing so it may have been rebuilt.

Jon and Dany's love story started as soon as he got to Dragonstone early on in season 7. So took place over about 11 episodes.
