Game Of Thrones: Season 8

She burned her because Dany felt lied to when she said she could save Drogo. She did save him technically but he was then a vegetable and it cost Dany her child also. The witch’s argument was that she had already been raped multiple times by the Dothraki before Dany saved her. So it again plays into the fact that Dany wants to free people and avenge them but only on her terms.

I don't see how the 2 scenarios are the same. In the first scenario she's got some woman sneering at her, after claiming she could save the man she loves, but tricked her and manipulated her.

In the second she's got innocent women and children who haven't ever done anything personally to her at any point. Just don't see it as a good comparison to back up what she did in Kings Landing.

Her burning the innocents didn't actually bother me as much as a lot of the rest of it though. Was lower on my list of being baffled by what they'd done this season.

Tbf, Dany could well have a personal vendetta against King's Landing. I'm not saying it was done particularly well, but I think it was always going to be the endgame of GoT.

I would have loved Jon to have turned into the mad one and turned targaryan, turning his back on the starks like theon did so him and dany could rule together.

That could have left us seeing Arya kill cersei, then he could have killed Arya for not letting dany kill her. Brann warg into the dragon to try and crush dany leaving Jon with no choice but to kill him and then kill Sam as he tries to foolishly stop him and that's when they could have waited for gilly to tell him she's pregnant, much like pearl harbour "you can't die, because you're going to be a daddy".

That would have been a good shocking unexpected end with the targaryans left to rule. Maybe dany could have killed Jon then fearing he was too mad, but the actual ending seemed pointless seeing as nobody bought into dany being that mad, they should have slowly evolved that if they were going to.

Great character Arya and they did absolutely nothing with her at the end, she was trained to be an ultimate assassin, she watched the Lannisters exicute her father and could do nothing about it.

So in the last episode instead of her getting revenge for her father, she's just running about the streets dodging fire and bricks, what a waste.

There was some good stuff in that episode but what wasn't there and the lost potential of what they could have done, was inexcusable, shoddy shoddy writing.

Tbf, I kind of liked the surprise that everyone was constantly expecting her to do something in that episode and she just fell short. It was unlike films where the hero always has the hero ending, but I agree with what you say. Her to ask extent, bronn and Jon were misused so badly in the last season.

What do you reckon the odds are that they go back to it in a couple of years when HBO thrown money at the Author/Writers to do some more.

It was left wide open to continue, would not surprise me within 5 years they are making more.

I hope not, there really isn't any characters left that anyone cares about anymore. Anyone who's still alive is alive because they were too boring to give a good death to or have no story left.

They can just remake the final season, and make it ten episodes or so, stretch out everything, actually leave us with one talking point after the final episode and then put it on the shelf.

Lads do you think when you build something up so much that you will always be a tad disappointed no matter how it goes?!

I’ve invested a lot of time in this show but on the whole it’s been absolutely incredible but it does feel like people are trying to out do each other in how descriptive they’re being of their dissatisfaction of the show.

‘I hate it more because Jon’s arc didn’t lead the way it should have’

‘Well I hate it more because the writers have offered no conclusions to any sub plots thus creating a long dwelling emptiness in the pit of my gutlet’

The investment in it from people is ridiculous, it’s become like a religion. The end was never going to be good enough, no matter what they did. It didn’t help that they ended up putting the worst character of them all on the throne, but in a way it made sense. I’ll miss it for what it was, a good programme. I hope they don’t do any spin offs, but it seems inevitable.

I think there's an element of that to it, but it's not an inaccurate or unfair thing to point out that the quality of the show has declined massively since its first few seasons. They defo rushed the ending of it, and the quality of the payoff suffered hugely as a result

I get the over-investment thing but equally it's a shame it ended (on the whole) in such a rushed way.

I don't really have any major issues with the content of this season. There was just no need to try and squeeze it all in to 6 eps.

Have a proper 10 episode series. Let all the little quirks and stuff play out. Let the characters develop properly, as they had done in the past.

It wouldn't have been hard to do.

Throw in the fact that after 2 years you still have crap like Starbucks cups and water bottles not getting edited out of scenes and you can see why die hard fans (which I don't count myself as btw - I'd forgotten most of the stuff that had happened in the last two years) are upset, and then other, more casual observers are also even pointing out that some of it just made no sense.

It was all pathetic and just incredibly rushed, the writing was bordering on atrocious. The only thing that saved it was the acting of people like Peter Dinklage. The cinematography was fantastic as well. There were 2 series that have been rushed into 6 episodes.

The time jumps were pathetic
How many respawns did The unsullied and Dothraki have in this episode
Why did the council really care what Greyworm and The Unsullied wanted. And then they just sodded off anyway
I take it the Dothraki, a ruthless gang that rapes and pillages, are now basing off in a civilised society and living under rule
Bronn getting master of the coin. Then doesn’t want to build the fleet or sewage system but instead wants whore houses.
Sansa demanding independence for the north and all the 6 kingdoms are happy

Even the spoiler had a better ending than the actual show
