Game Of Thrones: Season 8

Anyway, just realised Jon is just Jamie lannister with his incest relationship and then killing the targaryan leader through betrayal. It was just a woman from the front instead of a man from behind

What use was Bran exactly? He’s never used his abilities to affect anything.

- Got the 3 eyed raven killed
- Got Hodor killed after also ruining his life with a mental disability
- Sam found out about Jon’s heritage so he wasn’t needed for that
- Used as bait for the Night King but the Night King was going to Winterfell anyway

He’s literally affected no part of the story.

The first half of the episode was good.

In a proper, fleshed out season that episode would have been a brilliant no.8 or no.9.

Again, not hard to do.

Part of me is almost glad this season was a train wreck as for me the series never deserved to be called the best show of all time ahead of the likes of The Wire etc, especially after the huge dip in quality from season 5 onwards... this season has pretty much killed the narrative of it being the greatest ever show.

I guess his role was just to be a sensible King after all the madness but yer kind of expected him to control a wolf pack or maybe even a dragon at some point

I liked the first half tbf. It just needed to be an entire episode.

You know, like the last two episodes needed to be about four or five.

Really don't understand the decision. It's not come down to money, HBO aren't gonna rush it for money. It makes them far too much.

It's the writers ultimately getting in way over their heads and being proper frauds for two seasons.
HBO wanted 9/10 episodes but the writers were obviously struggling to stretch it out, those IMDB figures say it all.

I agree the first half of the last episode was ok, you could see there was going to be conflict between Snow and Daenerys once she started the genocide in rage, I was thinking at that point he might off her here.

But it was then too rushed, and they didn't tie off the stories for all the characters you invested in for 9 years properly.

Think that's the point where the TV show started to get ahead of the books

I know it was just Starks at the end.

I wanted Jon dead just like Ned, Full War for the True King (7 Kingdoms v Daenerys) and I would take Bran on the throne then.

I’ve slept on it and still gutted.

I get inserting a few red herrings, whereby previous arcs don’t reach a discernible conclusion, but it seems like that applies to every single storyline.

A dragon displaying an innate understanding of the human condition? Nah.

And with King’s Landing in ruins, why not have the North’s army smash the unsullied and then the Starks rule from the North?

GoT’s main strength was never pandering to the crowd. Ned losing his head set the tone for that. In the end, they tried to please everyone and ended up pleasing very, very few people.

Yep.

10 eps would have been fine, at least it would have had time to develop naturally (even if the outcome was the same).
