YES "this again"

A defender that can't defend is not worth much. "attacking is equally important as defending" only if you are relying on having an attacking full-back (like Baines) but a key factor of being able to do that is being able to defend first as that is their job role!

Jelavic can't score in a brothel with a pocket full of cash, but he must be worth £20m cos no one runs that channels like him, lad.

I think he can defend and is getting better every game at it..

Just listened to this.

Here are my views - £125 million seems like a ridiculous amount, but then again you do have to take into consideration the new money about to come into the club. Example, if you owned a house worth 50k and in a years time you could get 200k for it, would you sell it for 50k? Now i'm not sure what would happen with a takeover - ie how much Kenwright would get, how much more investment would be needed after buying the club etc...but i'd still trust that we aren't just picking a number out of thin air, there has to be people who are responsible for the valuation.

I do want Kenwright out, but i want to sell to the right seller - no one wants to get a power crazy owner etc, and with this new TV money coming in - lets be honest, Kenwright isn't going to be greedy, it will help out Everton massively, and I feel that our board is responsible enough to use that money wisely. If we use that money to pay off our debts, then we have more money over every season without worrying about interest or any debts what so ever - so its not like its all downhill if we don't sell. May seem like i'm pro-kenwright, but im not, I think he is doing a decent job, but this January I was infuriated, because if we invested in 2 players then imo we would be 4th or 5th...

As for the groundshare, im not too fussed. As far as i'm concerned our fans wouldn't clash, rather then have 2 good stadiums we could have 1 world class one - more tourism, fans publicity etc. That Siamese stadium idea from a few years ago is pretty cool too. With everton saying we will have moved in about 8 years - well thats good but really depends where...and this is a stadium for a European club (long term), so we don't just want to rush things and make some **** uninspired stadium that will make more profit than goodison.

Moyes contract is the most frustrating thing at the moment. Kenwright should have the balls to give Moyes an ultimatum, this isn't helping anyone - so if Moyes is going to sign then he should, and if not, then move aside and let us bring in a new manager who can get used to our squad before next season. As a caller said before, Moyes bemoaned Lescott when he wasn't signing a contract - so he is being very hypocritical now. And what reason has he to delay signing a contract? There isn't one other than getting the media to link him to bigger clubs. Personally, I hope he goes, because the situations abit of a joke, and its caused by him...and with our current squad we can have someone who can get the most out of it - and i dont believe Moyes is that guy anymore.

Also, thought that takeover rumour was complete BS

Keith Harris said it was around £125 million before this new TV deal was even around, so that's not a factor.

I think it's been that price for Kenwright, Earl etc to make a mint because they're in a good position as being almost the "last of the top teams" not to be taken over in the last 10+ years. The markets narrowed, the price is high. You go and buy a Notts Forrest for £10million and build, or you can by a ready made premiership team for £125mill.

But then the parties interested do one because of the ground and zero assets.

I listened to some of the programme last night & have now read all of the answers to Stan's questions.

He needs congratulating for bringing the clubs plight into the National domain, shame on those who decided to abuse him on twitter & 'shoot the messenger'. Also, those suggesting that it was a PR stunt lead by the club & not even instigated by Collymore et al, need to get back in their bunker imo.

As for the detail, for the first time, we now have a confirmed asking price for the club. The conjecture now ends, it's £125M. So now the price is in the open & the desire to sell has been stated, there can be no hiding place for the current incumbents should a buyer not be found. As if the club doesn't sell at £125m, then it's definitively the price that's the issue. Everyone who wants change at Goodison can now unite behind this fact.

They'll just continue to hide behind the "be careful waht you wish for" and "bill doesnt want to sell to a dodgy owner who'd do a Portsmouth" while we continue to not be sold.
Because if its true that price reflects the new sky money coming in surely any prospective buyer will still be likely to buy us as they were before the New sky money came and the asking price was a lot lower.
Or its been 125 million or possibly higher for a long time.

Who at the club?

They didn't name him but rumours are its tyrell , Talksport billed it as a spokesman speaking on behalf & with the permission of everton , kenwright & moyes . This isn't an Internet rumour or the kind of stuff that can be dismissed it was as official as we are going to get from a club that doesn't have AGM's as they get asked too many hard questions .

Thanks.

So if the source wasn't identified how can it be any more reliable than any other "our sources inform us that......" type news article?

£125M for the shares of Everton 'justified'? Add the £48M official debt figure and you can understand why any prospective buyer would be walking away from stage two of any query about Everton.

Tv deal or no new tv deal, that selling price has to be way south of that to get anyone seriously looking at a club off CL pace, a millstone of a commercial operation hanging round its neck and with all the heavy lifting still to do on a new stadium/ground redevelopment.

Thanks.

There is no way a national radio station could plug , profile and stage a show quoting the club if it wasn't true , it'd be easy to prove if it was BS. The club would have come out and rubbished it , radio & media competitors would be battling to put the boot in and they'd be hugely discredited and possibly facing a civil case.

I don't know your stand point mate but if your seeking to ignore what was said because say the price damages kenwrights reputation (I don't know your position mate I'm just offering a what if) then I'm afraid your in trouble .

Thanks.

Because Collymore specifically stated at the start of the programme that the person who'd answered the questions, had done so with the express permission of Kenwright & Moyes. It wasn't conjecture it was a club spokesman answering on behalf of the club.
