FYI: Talksport Everton Special

I knew we didn't own Finch Farm but it's news to me that we don't own Goodison. Who did we sell it to and when? Ever reliable Wikipedia says that we're the owners.

Think that was a mistake and whoever said it was confused. We'd know for sure if it'd happened, unless they just meant heavily mortgaged

Just listened to this.

Here are my views - £125 million seems like a ridiculous amount, but then again you do have to take into consideration the new money about to come into the club. Example, if you owned a house worth 50k and in a years time you could get 200k for it, would you sell it for 50k? Now i'm not sure what would happen with a takeover - ie how much Kenwright would get, how much more investment would be needed after buying the club etc...but i'd still trust that we aren't just picking a number out of thin air, there has to be people who are responsible for the valuation.

I do want Kenwright out, but i want to sell to the right seller - no one wants to get a power crazy owner etc, and with this new TV money coming in - lets be honest, Kenwright isn't going to be greedy, it will help out Everton massively, and I feel that our board is responsible enough to use that money wisely. If we use that money to pay off our debts, then we have more money over every season without worrying about interest or any debts what so ever - so its not like its all downhill if we don't sell. May seem like i'm pro-kenwright, but im not, I think he is doing a decent job, but this January I was infuriated, because if we invested in 2 players then imo we would be 4th or 5th...

As for the groundshare, im not too fussed. As far as i'm concerned our fans wouldn't clash, rather then have 2 good stadiums we could have 1 world class one - more tourism, fans publicity etc. That Siamese stadium idea from a few years ago is pretty cool too. With everton saying we will have moved in about 8 years - well thats good but really depends where...and this is a stadium for a European club (long term), so we don't just want to rush things and make some **** uninspired stadium that will make more profit than goodison.

Moyes contract is the most frustrating thing at the moment. Kenwright should have the balls to give Moyes an ultimatum, this isn't helping anyone - so if Moyes is going to sign then he should, and if not, then move aside and let us bring in a new manager who can get used to our squad before next season. As a caller said before, Moyes bemoaned Lescott when he wasn't signing a contract - so he is being very hypocritical now. And what reason has he to delay signing a contract? There isn't one other than getting the media to link him to bigger clubs. Personally, I hope he goes, because the situations abit of a joke, and its caused by him...and with our current squad we can have someone who can get the most out of it - and i dont believe Moyes is that guy anymore.

Also, thought that takeover rumour was complete BS

The mood of thing the thing switched drastically about half way through. They went from seeming genuinely critical and addressing problems to just praising what a brilliant job Moyes and Kenwright are doing. All of the really useful callers got the arse pretty early on in the piece while the fella from Norwich who "doesn't know much about football" got as much of a chance as anyone.

It's impossible to get a reading on how believable the 'answers' Collymore provided are. We can take them for face value I suppose, but the answers themselves tend to suggest there has been a history of lying, or at the very least of a lack of transparency.

Sounds like it's Sky money or bust right now. They say 5-10 years for the stadium? It surely must be closer to 10 than 5. I don't know, I'm certainly not overwhelmed with positivity.

If we're going to ground share why don't we share players too ?

Having your own football ground is an inherent part of being a football team, i can't believe people would be okay with sharing a ground with our fierce rivals. You only have to look at Italy to see how much trouble such systems are causing now. Sharing a stadium would kill a big part of our club's identity.

Even if we had a new stadium and it was some boring bowl, at least it would be OUR stadium.

Then we stay at Goodison forever.

Clearly the current Board have no plan B, the rs thankfully wont entertain plan A.

Im not against the idea, short term, cos quite frankly its the only way I can see growth.

There's more important things than 'growth'.

We'd 'grow' if we just merged the two teams.

Besides, at the moment we don't even sell out Goodison. A new stadium would cost hundreds of millions and unless we had owners willing to invest into the squad and bring an improvement on the pitch then it's all a bit pointless. We're not going to get 45000+ people coming to watch a team finishing 7th every season.

Your just not looking at the bigger picture.

You know quite well why we dont sell out every week, you know all the arguements for a new ground, so im not sure why your even saying we dont need 1.

Arsenal for example "make" more from Matchday revenue than we "make" from EVERYTHING.

But as I say, you know all this, your just dismissing it all cos it fits your "Anti-Groundshare agenda".

Im not saying im a fan by all means, I was just saying its the only option available to the current Board so I can see why they are pushing it so hard.

And your wrong, theres nothing more important than growth.

Stan will just shout down anyone whom disagrees with him.....it's what he does.

Any match going Everton fan whom calls in will be told about how if we didn't have Moyes we'd be in the Conference by now and all sorts of non Everton buggers will be calling in to tell us how much Moyes "deserves" a crack at a "top club" and that his "loyalty" to us is holding him back.

Fans of the top five will agree with them.....just so long as it isn't their club he is "given a chance" at.

I shall be giving this programme a swerve as I know how talkSPORT operates and that station is one of Moyes's cheerleaders.

I've only heard Talksport once. We were in a taxi to Euston - catching a train to Liverpool - and I was rolling my eyes at the
opinions I heard.

Based on that, all of the above sounds likely, to me.

The 'problem' is not Kenwright. I don't doubt he loves the club albeit he is naive and sometimes ill informed.

Earl fronted the money for the purchase of the club and has the final veto on any potential purchase. Earl is a buisnessman and is waiting for his massive return on investment. That 500% ROI is what's holding back any sane sale price.

Just regarding the ground share, I have a few questions to put to the forum....
Would you mind going to YOUR home ground and seeing a statue of Bill Shankly every week?
Would you mind going to YOUR home ground and seeing the Shankly gates?
Would you mind going to YOUR home ground and seeing the RS shop every week?
Would you mind there being little or no Royal Blue around the ground when we are at home?
Would you mind there being red around the ground?

It stinks to me and I dont want it at all.

Just to throw it in there I don't know how squad valuations work in football club deals. Over a Starbucks I've just put these figures together (contract info gained from those good fellows at Toffeeweb):

Phil Neville Jun-13 FA
Seamus Coleman Jun-15 £10m
John Stones Jun-18 £3m

I hate to say it and without copying the whole list players like Mucha, Howard, Hobbert etc will be nowhere near them valuations and anyway whenever anyone comes in or leaves it is "Undisclosed!"

Hey well I jibbed Mucha down from £3m to £2m whilst you were posting.
