"people who prefer him at #10 position"

You cannot say Moyes prefers him there. Statistically he has played most of his games in a deeper role so if you're going to take it upon yourself to declare Moyes' preference, that's the option with more evidence.

Fellaini himself has just been quoted saying he prefers the deeper role too.

Moyes has already made comments about Fellaini suiting a more forward role, I can't be arsed searching for them but they are there.

I find it surprising that Moyes decided to have a midfield of Osman and Neville with Fellaini in front of them after Gibson's injury against West Brom. I mean, with Fellaini being the best CM since Zidane then it was clearly more logical to have Fellaini drop deeper. It took ages for Moyes to realise this, but it did eventually sink in. Moyes pulled Fellaini back and the midfield instantly looked better for it. We were shite whilst Fellaini was further forward, but as soon as he dropped back he grabbed a hold of the game by the scruff of the neck and we looked such a better team for it.

Well, if Fellaini thinks that it's his best position then it must be true. Players always know best, they're the ones who should decide where they should play, because they are clearly the best judge to decide what their best position is.

This is why Fellaini won't return up top as soon as Gibson gets fit.

Well yeah, thanks to the same regime who think it's acceptable to sell our best CB for tuppence.

That's selective tho mate. Lescott went, against the club's wishes like but had his head turned so we had to let go. The market may have been different then but you have to say we got a truly staggering deal out of them. Arteta the same - many said £10mill was cheap but it was good money for what he could have offered us on the pitch.

So, if Felli throws his hat in the ring, are you now suggesting that to sell him would be 'asset-stripping', or somehow destructive to the club - compared to insisting he stays and hope he keeps himself motivated? Most lids have put 2 and 2 together and assume that if he really meant what we have read then he will leave by the end of this season. Then what could be wrong with imagining what we might get for him and what we could buy?

(btw. agree with your point that you might get 3 player fees out of his sale but you won't get three wages - which many lids overlook).

Moyes has played him up top because of his physical presence. It worked against a few terrible defences and he thought it would work against West Brom. It didn't as they had a compact, well-organised and also pretty tall defence. They nullified him completely.

It's funny really because Evertonians have hailed him with all sorts of superlatives for years now, and only in his first season and so far this season has he been starting in the ACM role. All the biggest Evertonian plaudits -- the people who watch him week in, week out -- started to come after his first season. When he was playing centrally. Now why was that? If he's so awful in the centre why have we as a fanbase held him in such high regard for all this time?

I'm giving up arguing with you as your opinion is unmoveable. And you've started to resort to a bit of childish sarcasm now which is pretty poor form. You're very reminiscent of a Damon as you refuse to acknowledge any points which contrast with your own, whereas reasonable people can at least be well... reasonable. I can accept Fellaini is effective as an ACM, and at times even unplayable. I can also accept that as you're saying, albeit in an arrogant way, that he isn't quite the £40m world class superstar that some make out. But honestly mate it's not worth my time arguing further. I'm headbutting a wall, and that will only give you a headache.

Yeah, he excelled so much in that period where he wasn't playing ACM that Fellaini tuned down all those other offers he had in order to sign a 5 year contract with Everton less than 12 months ago. People were talking about a 40million pound move to Real Madrid before he signed that contract. It's really good to see a player like Fellaini turn down all those offers from supposedly 'bigger clubs' in this day and age. He should be commended for it.

Fellaini and Everton looked perfectly fine until Gibson got injured. And Fellaini was playing ACM at the end of last season, where I witnessed some of the most accomplished football I have ever seen from Everton.

But that hasn't happened, he's just signed a new long term contract and said he's happy.

I simply don't get why people are so willing to start treating our best players as assets that we can flog to get more players in, as if it's as simple as selling one player and replacing him with three. Where do the wages for multiple players come from ? How do we attract players to improve us consistently if we can't get European football as a result of the continued sale of our best players ? It's a vicious cycle.

We've got a strong starting 11 now, and three games into the season some are already considering the benefits of losing our arguably most influential player.

I think that Fellaini is best used in a more central midfield role. When he is used further forward there is a tendency to lump the ball forward to him and sometimes it works(Utd)sometimes it doesn't(WBA).From a central role he can at times be used as an attacking role, but I would prefer to see players such as Osman,Pienaar,Mirallas and Oviedo? be the driving force of our attacking play.
I would like two strong central midfielders with width on the wings from those names above and Jelavic supported by Naismith,Mirallas or Osman.
I think this would give our team better balance.
Regarding Fellaini,I think the pace of the Spanish league would be ideally suited to his languid style,I think he would do very well there.
We must remember Fellaini is still only 24 and will continue to improve for the next four or five years. He is a really good player but in truth,I do believe that his ambitions lie away from Everton.
