Farhad Moshiri: Ronald Koeman Statement

It doesn't equate to a 'shambles full of lies and deceit' though ffs.

The massive over reaction to that statement this morning is a joke tbh. Moshiri needs to get himself a PR advisor before sending out stuff like that though, as his poor choice of words has given the bed wetters a field day. It was obvious what he meant but he should have phrased it differently.
How would you have phrased it.....?

My issues with the statement.

Unexpected losses. Ffs how small minded are Everton to not go into the first games and try and win them? We expected to lose them, wow. Why should the players or fans be arsed if the owner doesn't care we lost then games? Yea the teams are better than us and they were difficult games but even losing to spurs or Chelsea should be hard to take for anyone at this club. We aren't meant to lose games therefore any loss is unexpected. How do we plan to win European trophies if we aren't surprised at losing against the very first team we play in the competition proper ?

Also mental and physical fatigue? On October 1st? Really? After using 23 players so far? How are we meant to have a winning mentality if we believe we are mentally and physically fatigued so quickly? How do we win trophies then with all the added games? And why don't actual successful clubs cry fatigue after only 6 weeks of a 9 month season?

The statement personally, is a joke and represents to me the same small minded belief that this club has had for 20 years now. Where is the passion and drive? It's not coming from anyone at the club clearly. So why as a fan should I care? I shouldn't be bothered about us getting beat by teams above us as they are classed as expected so why should I believe in the team when the owner doesn't?

Terrible statement that does nothing to help the club. I don't think many of us here expected Koeman to get sacked, Moyes survived runs like this and Martinez was given a whole extra season after being a relegation contender so Koeman was never likely under threat given the precedent set. But can somebody tell me why Moshiri did not condemn the performance levels of the team and offer some clarification as to why Lukaku was not replaced which offers Koeman a lifeline as its currently one of the only legitimate excuses he has. As for the 'unexpected loss' comment; lets hope it was a little bit of broken English otherwise its time to get worried.

Koeman is lucky it's an international break as he hasn't entered last chance saloon yet in our board's mind and if they were going to fire him now would be the time. Brighton is make or break for me, lose that and he must be fired immediately.

It's not obvious what he meant at all though. Nothing about him is obvious. And it's not bed wetting to think there's something going seriously wrong at the club right now.

So surely we shouldn't expect a rallying call against Arsenal or even worse Liverpool. Now we know we are not expected to win these games then there is no point in our usual media soundbytes of how we could actually win a derby.

Of course it's bleeding obvious. He was trying to say that we'd lost games that looking back on you'd not have necessarily expected us to win - which you wouldn't. Burnley being the exception.

Part of what's wrong with the club is that the ground is a morgue and is a hindrance to the players rather than a benefit.

Koeman has made mistakes this season, he's got a couple of weeks on the training ground to sort it. If he doesn't get it right at Brighton then he'll be toast irrespective of Moshiri's comments today imo.

I remember Big Nev once saying that they went in to every season expecting to win the league and every cup on offer, why else bother turning up otherwise.
Anyone who didn't share that goal...well...Everton wasn't for them.
I think that statement you quote of Big nev's is slightly inaccurate as i do not remember seeing that belief in 1983 or the begining of 1984?

Not inaccurate in the slightest. He actually said it, I heard him. If you don't believe he meant it, that's an entirely different argument.

tbf, Moshiri does sound like a billionaire talking about financial risk assessment. This will be an Amber row on his Seasonalized Loss Expectancy spreadsheet :D

Game was poor yesterday, realy poor. I think we are forgetting we are in transition but its not been good enough by far. The statement released by Moshiri is what you would expect the owner to do. Behind the scenes will be totally different though. I don't want Koeman out but he has so sort this sharpish.

We wont wait forever and hes had the cash to spend, I still think there is a decent team in there somewhere but it needs to be found and fast. for the first 20 mins it was positive football but quicky went downhill.
