Farewell to Marouane and Victor

Good luck to both of them. Feel sad for Anichebe, was never given a chance, because of Moyes's dislike of young players, instead using appalling older options (yakubu, Saha, Beckford etc). 6 million is a great fee though, only slightly dampened knowing we paid Wigan it for that carthorse Kone.

Although Everton and the media stated the fee was £27.5m, it was in fact £23.5m, but we spun it as £27.5m because we saved £4m in fees to Fellaini because he handed in a transfer request.

"By driving to Everton's training ground and lodging a transfer request on Monday evening, Fellaini sacrificed £4m in loyalty bonuses. That allowed Everton to agree to a £23.5m deal because the overall gain to them was £27.5m."

By submitting a transfer request shortly before 8pm, Fellaini ensured Everton would not be forced to pay the player £4 million in loyalty bonuses, enabling the two clubs to agree a deal worth £27.5 million to the selling club.

So we will receive £23.5m for Fellaini although the deal is worth £27.5m because we didn't have to pay £4m in a loyalty bonus.

I felt Vic really improved over the past year or so and contributed some good goals for us. I would have started him over Kone.

loved both of them, thank you lads.

Vic could have been anything but he gave us 15 years at this club and at times looked like he reached that potential we always knew he could...

of course going to be sad watching them play against us, especially Vic the boyhood evertonian

The official o/s says this.

"Marouane Fellaini has moved to Manchester United for a £27.5m fee"
http://www.evertonfc.com/news/archive/2013/09/02/blues-confirm-five-deals

Doubt this would include any relinquished bonuses.

United insist they have paid Everton no more than the £23.5m release clause that was in Fellaini’s contract – a clause that expired at the end of July – but Everton say the deal is worth £27.5m to them. The difference is understood to be Fellaini’s own cash sacrifice.

By submitting a written transfer request on deadline day Fellaini, left, has forfeited about £4m in loyalty bonuses that would have been due on the two years remaining on his Everton contract . That has allowed Everton to declare the deal as being worth £27.5m to them

that's the express, telegraph, and independent all saying Man Utd paid £23.5m (the original release clause and no more) and we declared it as £27.5m because we 'saved' £4m in payments to Fellaini. I'm inclined to believe that this is the case over and above Everton's Official Site stating the 'fee' was £27.5m.

United have been embarrassed. We have or 27.5m. They put it as undisclosed on heir website.

They obviously paid what we stated

...agree with the general sentiment, both have realised their full value and have gone with our blessing. I hope they both do well and I'm sure they will always get a warm reception at the Old Lady.

I think United have been embarrased here, its the only big signing the Equaliser could get over the line in what wa his forst transfer window. the bully has just been picked on, and is trying to do all they can to save face. I love the way that Everton, after years of selling only for undisclosed fees, announced within minutes that the sale had gone through for £27.5m. Edward Woodward has had hi pant pulled down and run up a flag pole at Goodison. I personally, love it. They've been had so well on this one that they've felt the need to brief the media through several different outlets about, "if you break it down like this it's not so bad". I fully believe that we have 'recieved' £27.5m. We've resisted being pushed around by United and long may it continue. I woul even welcome us going straight out now and telling the press exactly what has happened through this process an really stick the boot in.

On Anichebe and Fellaini, I really hope they get what they deserve. I hope that both of them score in every game they play, though i want United to concede more than they score. Anichebe is a blue at heart, and watching his interview was actually quite strange. He really didn't want to go from what it seems, and it wold therefore put doubt in my mind as to the stories of him sacking us off in a derby to sign tfor GHull, and maybe there were other reasons as to why he was not in the squad. Anyhoo.....

Heres the vid...........

Felli deserves a massive round of applause when he comes back. He can give that charlatan that is his manager a lesson in dignity and loyalty. Handing in the tranfer request was the same as adding 3 million quid to the fee. Thanks for the memories Big Fella..... and the loyalty.

Genuine question, why are people made up he handed in a transfer request hours before the window shut? I'm pretty sure Rooney got lynched for the same trick

Rooney handed in a transfer request when we didn't want to sell. fellaini did it just before the deal was done. One was to force a move, the other was to smooth it.
