Everton Youth Teams Thread

That's interesting. I'm especially keen on the England players simply because we have former England players in Jags, Barry, Rooney and Baines and now it seems Keane + Pickford as well as hopefully some from the new wave. Think its exciting...

Was Feeney playing for England at left centre back, so Lewis Gibson would have been alongside him at left back?

if so, that bodes well...
Gibsons a year younger Zat so not played together. Think Feeney normally plays RCB but like most of our academy lads would have been taught go use both feet so I'm sure will be comfortable either side. I think this Foulds lad is naturally left sided. If he's filled out as suggested he may not be far away from an International call up. Think it would be at u20 age group so would have his work cug out breaking into that U19 euro winning team. But we just had 3 players occupy the front 4 positions at the world cup and you wouldnt have said that a year ago.

Feeney and Baningime are the only players left from the U23's that haven't made a 1st team appearance I'm remotely excited about. Maybe Evans too but not seen him play in ages.
Robinson too mate. Plus it seems Matty Foulds has beefed up so be intersting to see how he does.

Personally I actually wish we were bringing in less players from outside the club into our youth setup. Should only be the outstanding talents imo, as it is already hard enough to bring players thru, and there simply isn't enough squad space to bring through that many in one go. There's really no point having that many coming thru in one go as they will just end up blocking each other. We are already seeing this with the like of Davies/Walsh. Don't believe in the Chelsea farm method that we seem to be following more, and would prefer to see more local lads being brought thru than foreigners/players from other parts of the country. Also feel its bad for other teams to have their young talent poached so early (eg these latest deals for Bowler/that Newcastle kid).
I guess Unsy/Walsh have identified areas if weakness in what is coming through the academy mate and are taking steps to plug those. It also makes financial sense when you look at Stones and Holgate. Even DCL.

That is modern football for you. At least QPR got a decent fee, as for Gibson there needs to be a rule change to stop this type of transfer.

Foulds has been left back a lot last season hasn't he + now moving across into the centre?

Bowler I read is a left footed winger but cuts in from the right? Is that where he played for us?

Do Foulds or any of our u23s for this season (excluding the u20 world cup lads) have any England youth caps?
Bowler did play off the right cutting in on his left. Seemed to have developed an understanding with gethin jones already.

Foulds I've not seen in his beefed up state haha was promising but too lightweight for me. Robinson yeh, forgot about him, need to see him playing adult football first though. U23's is the best I've seen him.
Robinsons development been hampered by injury. Hoped he would have been with full squad pre season but still wiyh U23s.

Charsley has represented ROI don't think Lavery has maybe Northern Ireland?

if so, that bodes well...

Shows how much luck plays a part in a young players chances. Connolly now probably ahead of Robinson and Garrbutt in the left back stacks due to formers injury and layers poor loan spells.

The likes of Kenny, Connolly, Dowell etc who are away with the first team need to grab their chance and impress. Big opportunity as there are a few gaps in the squad that they could fill.
