Everton Youth Teams Thread

….hopefully the club make their views clear in their referees report.

These are big games, not to be officiated by a referee giving decisions on a whim. They have to be certain when giving a penalty, he was some distance away and from what I could see, not one City player appealed (which is always a good insight).
For most , if not all, this was the biggest game of their young lives, I’m sure there were protests which pissed I off the ref possibly affecting the red card decision. Shocking referying .

I’ve slept on it and I’m more angry at what we saw last night than most of the shockers we’ve had at senior level down the years.

OK we weren’t the better side but they’ve grafted hard in one of the biggest games any of them will have played to keep it 0-0, and with Graham on the pitch there’s every chance to go and nick one up the other end and get through. And then the one supposed adult on the pitch loses his mind and rips their heart out.

You don’t expect PL level refs (not that they’re much better) but in the latter stages of one of their big comps the FA have to serve up better than that.

I can't pretend to watch all that much youth football so concede to your superior knowledge of the style of football thst is being played. What I would saybis there are many ways to play football and you can't play this possession based football against everyone, I have seen recent clips of the under 18s where they seem to smash lesser opposition. The premeir league is perhaps the most competitive league in the world and its getting increasingly difficult to develop youth players into first team premier league players , with the pressures and demands for instant success. All teams are competing for the same goals and prizes and to find the next superstar so I believe its a little naive to suggest thst we don't look to employ the best coaches etc but I also believe its important to blend this with 'Everton' people, and those thst understand what it is to be 'Everton'. Football will always be about opinions etc and fans will always give there input and rightly so, but these guys do it for a living and are professionals so I'm confident they know what they are doing. Probably more straight forward playing championship manager
I think this is Keith Southern’s first club where he has coached, maybe he was appointed just as a temporary position while they search for a fully qualified coach.

Was against it at the time but I'd say Keith Southerns done a pretty remarkable job and his position should be safe as houses. Stunned to see he has got basically any criticism for coaching us to back to back (as it stands) top3 finishes, an FAYC quarter final in which we were beaten in controversial fashion, excellent development of players and routinely picking schoolboys for his squad. He got beat by a side with 50x the budget and an incompetent ref.
