Everton Youth Teams Thread

I take it you have seen the league table? Obviously we want to aim to be the best, but nit always possible, sometimes you come up against really good teams , and well over recent years Chelsea and Man City have been dominating youth football with the resources they have. Some good prospects in this young Everton team and there is ni shame losing when you lose the right way, working hard and facing the opposition head on - but to have it taken away in this manner when they have given there all is cruel. I applaud there performance and hope to see a few of these lad.progress in the next few years
Such a shame for them ,we must spend a fraction compared to the two Manchester clubs Chelsea and even Liverpool and still managed to have a few promising players coming through
A tough market to compete in and harder to keep them like possibly Akarakiri being tempted aeay

No I'm not saying we should be outplaying them I'm saying we should be coached in a way that we don't treat the ball like a hot potato. I see the same issues with the under 21s and its not conducive to helping our youth improving their individual games going forward. To me we need to seriously shake up the academy structure at the club and not appoint coaches just because they've once come through our academy themselves. Why don't we look to bring in the finest youth coaches around the world/country and implement some proper technical coaching and a plan that maximises the youth we have instead of what we have now which seems more of an 'that'll do' mentality?

I can't pretend to watch all that much youth football so concede to your superior knowledge of the style of football thst is being played. What I would saybis there are many ways to play football and you can't play this possession based football against everyone, I have seen recent clips of the under 18s where they seem to smash lesser opposition. The premeir league is perhaps the most competitive league in the world and its getting increasingly difficult to develop youth players into first team premier league players , with the pressures and demands for instant success. All teams are competing for the same goals and prizes and to find the next superstar so I believe its a little naive to suggest thst we don't look to employ the best coaches etc but I also believe its important to blend this with 'Everton' people, and those thst understand what it is to be 'Everton'. Football will always be about opinions etc and fans will always give there input and rightly so, but these guys do it for a living and are professionals so I'm confident they know what they are doing. Probably more straight forward playing championship manager

It's not merely about playing possession football it's about patterns of play and developing youth players in a certain way that their transition to senior football should be more seamless. I just don't see much coaching going on in that aspect and certainly no real plan other than loaning them out to play 'mens' football

I think we both share the same desire to see the players who at 15 and 16 look like real prospects find a way into the first team. I think all premier league teams search for this magic formula. Everton have a rich history of producing home grown players, I think the challenge of doing this in the modern game is ever increasing so I share you hope that the club continues to strive for this

To be fair Armstrong has made it through our academy so it's not all bad. Maybe I'm just an idealist when the reality is that most youth don't make it. I still think we need better coaching in general though
