Lukaku this season: 25 goals in 42
Martial this season: 14 goals in 41

I know stats aren't everything but Rom has carried us this year, he's only 22 himself (Martial 20) he has an off day in front of goal and yes it cost us massively but he is a brilliant player

Martial played a lot of games out wide so that affects the goal tally. What we need is another martial type on our left to compliment the other 3 main attackers we have.

You mean a player on the left who can cut in and shoot on his right foot really well? I feel like we MIGHT have that player.....

No, a top quality high speed player like a Deulofeu or even a Martial type who when they get the ball in space you know they could have a Kanchelskis moment.

On today, i woke up ready for the game 00:15 start here and saw Gibson in the side and Besic right back. Shades of Hibbert/Osman for md and seeing Hibbert on the bench was a disgrace.

Knew we would lose just based upon that.

Just having another look at Martial's goal and the defending is nothing short of criminal. It's injury time and we've got both Stones and Jagielka trying to nick the ball and failing leaving the gap Martial runs in to, we've got Gibson who doesn't even move during the whole phase of play, we've got McCarthy who's meant to be protecting his back four doing nothing of the sort, We've got Deulofeu who gives up tracking Martial... I mean it's injury time in a Fa Cup semi final FFS.

Why hasn't one of Gibson or McCarthy got tighter to Herrera in the first place which would of meant Jagielka doesn't need to come out of position to try and make the tackle?

I thought it was a very fitting ending to a big game and a fitting nail in the Martinez Everton managerial coffin really.

And you put the "years following" being "dire" down to the fact we won the Cup?

Not only is that statement barking, it us also factually flawed as the following season we were much improved in the league, finishing 6th.

The Cup actually gave us a bit of momentum which was stymied when Johnson refused to back Joe when he wanted to sign Flo in 1997.

Joe left and then decline sat in.

But it was nowt to do with winning the Cup.
Not really but!I was just saying that the great time hardly came following success in the cup in 95, my point is looking good at the bigger picture if we had won the cup this years, Martinez more than likely would get another year, do we really want him here for another campaign
, I certainty don't , but he himself would have thought he deserves it winning a cup. But this is now us fans do deserve so. Uch more than the dross that's served up each week.

Martial looked better than he is because Besic is not a right back. Made him look like Hibbo vs Malouda in the 09 final.
But regardless of that, Lukaku has been well off his game since he declared he would like to move, he's hardly done himself any favours since then, it's about time he forgot about himself and get the team that pays his wages back on track.

Badly let down by Lukaku not finishing one of the 4 golden chances that he had. It's not the first time he has not taken goal scoring opportunities that would have won us the game. He says he wants to play CL but he is not a CL finisher.

The result typifies where we are as a team. Always close but not close enough under mr phenomenal. I just wonder whether the players produced the second half irrespective of the inane ramblings of a clueless manager
