If we win this and finish 7th where does that leave us in terms of attracting better players and competing for the league? I'd argue if we won the League Cup 20 times in a row but never finished above 5th or 6th we would be stuck exactly where we are. So ultimately it isn't important unless you like being a maybe sneak into Europe on occasion level of club.

I would have our first trophy in 23 years over finishing one place higher on the table, personally
