It really is the changes. There are far too many.

Pickford should be starting.

Gana, our best midfielder, should be starting.

Richarlison should be starting. Arguably Walcott should be starting (our other most threatening player.)

If we get through this, Silva has gotten away with it. It's an unnecessary risk when we have no Europe, don't have another match for 5 days and Liverpool and Man U have already been knocked out.

I'd argue we need to win this cup before we can dream of competing for the bigger stuff.

The fact the bigger teams don't rate this until the late stages should spur us on to take this more seriously and take advantage of them going out. They can afford to not be bothered. We really can't.

I'm personally heartily sick of us not going full strength in this competition.

If we win this and finish 7th where does that leave us in terms of attracting better players and competing for the league? I'd argue if we won the League Cup 20 times in a row but never finished above 5th or 6th we would be stuck exactly where we are. So ultimately it isn't important unless you like being a maybe sneak into Europe on occasion level of club.

I'd have kept Gylfi, Gana and Pickford in. But looking at how we conceded that goal, I'm not sure they'd have made a difference.

I wouldnt have made so many changes. Maybe 1 or 2 changes but bringing in strek and baines is loyalty decision. Silva must be more ruthless.

Watching it, its 3 of our worst players conspiring to give up a goal. Stek just being poor, and Davies and Snides just making ZERO effort to play any defense. Lazy lazy lazy. Davies makes no effort to track Ings, and Snides for some bizzare reason decides to go cover 3 other Everton players. Absolutely horrible both of them.

Have to agree with that, I know this will be unpopular but every year we should be treating the league cup as our number 1 priority. It is by far and away the best chance of winning something but we keep messing around with it and seeing teams like Swansea, Leicester and Birmingham celebrating instead.
