Everton extends kit deal with Umbro

Umbro just seem to have terrible reach into non UK markets

Genuinely think we'd be better off with
Adidas, Nike or Under Armour if it gets Everton shirts into more stores worldwide
Why would it though? I never saw an Everton Nike kit when we were with them either.

I do see Umbro stuff in local shops (not football kits). The football kits in the shops around here are basically just your usual suspects: Barca, Real, United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, etc.

Don't think that has to do with the suppliers really.

What is your obsession with a kit deal? Joined less than an hour ago, and all you have done is bang on about it. And suggested we are in the Palace/Newcastle stable of clubs. Odd.
This was the only thread I wanted to respond to at this time.

The reason I mentioned Newcastle and Palace as they are like us - trophyless for decades (though I recall Palace doing us in the Zenith Data Systems Cup in 91) and where not challenging for top 6 are we? We have been surpassed and am not sure if we will ever get back.

Dude, they've got Umbro stuff in Targets all over the US. But the kit deal has VERY little to do with distribution, the Fanatics deal is more important from that aspect.

Just an odd place to decide to talk Everton down.

Oh defo, its a "bad" deal no doubt, when you put it alongside this :

Chelsea signs record-breaking £900m Nike kit deal
and
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-28282444
Manchester United and Adidas in £750m deal over 10 years
and

Manchester City sign new 10-year kit deal with Puma worth £650 million

But sadly we arent on that level, yet.

I mean people think it matters what company we go with, it really doesnt, we go with Umbro cos they are the 1s who offer us the most.

Our commercial deals are terrible, but you honestly have to ask yourself why, consider all the factors, all metrics that companies use for sponsorship Social media numbers, fanbase, ground size, trophies they win, European games and we fall very short on most.

You cant say to a company in 2019, "Look lads, we were boss in 1985, we think our history means you should pay us 100m a year".
Manu and Liverpool have performance related bonuses for the kit deal ie it’s worth less if they miss CL. I wouldn’t trust man cities deal it’s peobably juiced and spurs didn’t sign a megawonga deal until they moved to there new stadium.

Success and the new stadium will see our commercial revenue grow according ly

Just out of curiosity - do we know, say, what Crystal Palaces deal is like? Newcastle? Cause let's be honest - that's the level we are at these days?

I did read our kit sales were poor, but is one of the reasons for this down to the perception of the brand?

Seems strange there wasn’t much more made of this extension (in the media) to the current deal or what money is involved?

I saw Everton kits in Nike stores in NY, Bangkok and elsewhere when we had them

Something corrupt about that Man City puma deal.

The new kit deal with umbro is a disgrace. Is Umbro seriously the best we can do? And can someone explain what a mult-year deal is? We may as well sign a deal that is 'in perpetuity'with them. I don't understand why we can't attract someone else. Why don't sign the most popular brand in the city, under armour? Not that I like to compare to that lot, but when their billion pound deal with Nike is announced, starting season 20/21... it's going to show what a bunch of coasters our deal making department is.

not sure if you got your answer mate, but a "multi-year deal" is a contract that spans several years instead of 1 year (or less) and therefore doesn't need to be extended or renegotiated each year

I'm no @The Esk but in my experience most contracts have specifics allowing either party to get out under certain conditions, and a multi-year deal provides some stability both for club and kit manufacturer, and the two parties are better able to hedge against uncertainty by lengthening the contract a reasonable amount between too short (1 year?) and too long (20 years? or 10 years for EFC?)

I think this practice is pretty common in most industries

If we are one of Umbro's top clients and they are paying us most wedge then it is probably better than being Nike's or someone else's lowest priority getting less money for it.

That said I long to see the day we get an Adidas kit.

Love adidas me, I like umbro tho and would hate Nike, kappa or puma again

I don’t care who makes it, I’d love to see that classic 60’s kit back........white trim round neck and blue socks with white tops, the reverse of today’s horrible socks. Who knows, the team might start playing like those brilliant 60’s teams, when we were boss.

Think you’re being hopeful if you’re expecting a change of kit to make sauces play like Alan ball
