Everton Brands Appointment Confirmed

Sold five players for £20M...in this day and age where £20M gets you a bang average PL player. Then he fails to sell players like Besic, Vlasic, Bolasie, Mirallas, and Ramirez and instead hands them over to cut the wage bill a bit.

Dont try and sell that summer work as acceptable never mind impressive.

All told, incomings and outgoings, Brands did a poor-to-average job in the summer.
You just ignore the facts presented to you and say what you want
Do you get horny with all the negative attention or something ?

I have asked you several times but you never answered. What happened to the big sale we had to make to balance the summers signings. You said it had to happen?

He won't answer it mate.
Makes continual negative , sniping comments. When these prove to be groundless , he simply moves on to making more of the same ilk. It must torment him that Brands (so far) appears to have done a good job.
Glass half full sort of fella , seems to be upset that Moshiri is trying to take us forward into a new era, even if there have been setbacks on the way.

I know mate. Only posts what suits his agenda. It's sad.

@DonaldK changing his argument and pretending that what he now says was what he was saying all along. Next you'll be telling me the sun rises and sets everyday. He doesn't ever go to the game and I suspect he doesn't watch on telly either. I'm starting to wonder if he is even a real person, he might be a Russian trollbot? Pop him on ignore and if you're wondering what he is saying just assume it is "everything about Everton is awful, carpetbagger, pop gun, Martinez is/was amazing" rinse and repeat forever, and ever, and ever.......

Besic agent wanted a high fee so wasnt sold

Vlasic has been doing very well replacing CSKAs top player who went for north of £20mil and could be someone to play next season.

Bolasie is a total donkey...if he somehow manages to fool someone this season into buying him it will be a miracle

Mirallas supposedly has a guaranteed purchase clause in his deal

Sandro is on £100k a week so who will pay that? Only hope is to loan him and make a little cash back on the cost.
So at best what you're saying is that Brands didn't have the summer he was fabled to have had.

I completely agree if that's what you're saying. And his incomings are hit and miss so far.

All in all - and this is my point - the cult of Brands does not bear up to serious scrutiny on the evidence of his work so far for Everton. Digne and Richarlison are great, of course (Digne in reality his only likely signing of the two though, given that Silva had Richarlison at Watford).

As said, marks out of ten I'd give it 4/10 (a generous 5/10 if we throw in Richarlison to his plus column).

Dave I think you are missing the point about selling players
For Brands to sell players he has to find buyers for them and there were no buyers
Silva didn’t want to sell Lookman and Leipzig we’re taking the proverbial offering 12 m and then inching up to 23 m
Name me one club that would have paid a reasonable fee for any of the players you mentioned
A good DoF finds a way to player trade. Loan deals where Everton take the hit are deals that even Mike Dunford would have completed.

That was reliant on our DoF doing his job and actually shifting players out for cash rather than a load of loan deals.

His inadequacy was to blame for my miscalculation.

Methinks Dave that is a bit harsh. For me a 7! Also for me if you praise Siva I think you have to recognise that at long last we have a partnership in our club which will and is working not like the Koemanwalsh debacle.

What would you give it right now?

Think you are being overly harsh there mate. Seeing he only started his job on June 1st, alongside a new manager I think he has done way better than that. We are still yet to see 2 players and Bernard has the potential to be excellent. He did just about everything we had on our checklists. I would score 7.5.

Thats a bit like asking if you reckon a new house is nice when all thats been done is the ground works and foundations.

On that measure, pretty well. Looks like the house wont fall down and the leccy will work.
I'd say that was true of a manager who's task is to change a style of play. So far we can be pleased with Silva's efforts in that respect, but it'll take time - because a new culture is something you establish over the medium-to-long term. But the work of a DoF is easily determined by looking at the cash brought in and cash spent in a window and by the observable on-field evidence of the opening few months of the season in terms of player quality brought in. On that criteria I dont see any need to be overly praiseworthy about Brands. His sales brought in £20M and the rest he just broomed out on loan deals. The players signed are a mix of very good, very average and very missing.

How can that be getting a thumbs up off anyone in all seriousness?

It's a strange partnership when one complains that the other's tardiness has left him playing catch up from day one of the season.
