European super league and impact on Everton.

Thats my point. The premiership would be fine without the top teams just more competitive.

Its already competitive Adversus mate.

The last time a team won the Title back to back was United in 2009, since then there have been 4 different winners.

Liverpool and Spurs have also come very close to winning it in recent times.

Theres nothing wrong with the League, you cant go around stamping your feet cos "wickle old Everton cant challenge so lets take our ball and play in a different league", this is honestly delusion on a scale unlike ive ever seen, I feel ill just having to read this thread @micknick, remove me from this thread for the love of God.

If you think the league is competitive its you that is delusional.

The top 4 could all field b teams that would finish above us.

Ironically that is only making the likelihood of a European super league more likely with or without the English clubs.
How so? If the CL can't match the PL now then how is a euro league going to.
The English PL sells. Not France or Holland and Spain and Germany fall behind.
The PL as it is will always generate more money than any other league so not sure why any team from it would take a chance. English teams would never join.

Would love it. People thinking we will win the league in any of our life times is deluded with the gulf in money between the manchester clubs and chelsea never mind Spurs, RS and Arsenal once Wenger finally goes.

Atleast the league would be more exciting, atmospheres would be better without the middle class sky boys and we would actually have chance of winning a pot.

I know this may sound silly but I wouldn't mind if this happens.

Its clear by now unless we hit the oil sugar daddy lottery we will never be able to compete with the top 4/6.

The CL pretty much guarantees this.

So I say let them bugger off. I would prefer to watch us compete for trophies again rather than be best of the rest.

Thoughts?

Or we could get relegated and become a yo-yo club......every second season we would be in the thick of the promotion race with the likes of Wolves, Barcodes, Baggies, Burnley etc.

We would be "Champions" on a pretty regulation basis.

And there would be lots of exciting Play Off semi finals and trips to Wembley for the "richest game in the world" a.k.a the Play Off Final.

They even give a "trophy" out for that achievement these days.....even if the winners have finished 6th in the regular season.

No thanks.....I will stick with the Wee 14 and never stop hoping.....or believing....that EFC will again rise to the top in this country ;)

No chance we would be part of it. I imagine it only appeals to the money men within the top clubs and tv executives.
I’m sure it will be sold to the fans of those clubs as exciting football, the best teams against the best every week.
The novelty would soon wear off with the fans when they have having to travel every week across Europe at massive cost to themselves to watch their team playing away.

Probaly last about 5 years before teams start trying to crawl back with the begging bowl asking to be let back into their domestic league.

Also if the big clubs chase the rainbow for mega cash that this league would offer they should be booted out of all domestic cup completions as well.

A European "Super League" would pretty soon develop its own elite league within a league.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern and PSG.

City will be the only English club to have the resources to match them.

In a way it would be fun to see it happen.....and watch the RS and Arsenal quickly become also rans, there to make up the numbers.

Because the English clubs would be excluded greatly lowering their earnings capacity and the new European league would have many mega clubs. The reason why the other leagues can't attract the same tv money is because our league was more than just 2 or 3 tesms plus it was a faster game.

More and more our league is resembling the others with teams that just look to park the bus against the top teams. It is in dangerous of losing that spectical.

A bit like us when we pushed for the premier league.

I thought Utd was the richest club in the world.

I'm actually surprised more fans don't think like this.

Frankly it may not make the club as much money but as a fan I don't care about that.
