Play the kids in it next year if we finish 7th. That would be a minimum of 10 guaranteed starts for the likes of DCL, Vlasic, Lookman, Dowell, Onyekuru, Feeney, Kenny, Baningime, etc.

And probably 8/9 guaranteed defeats

No, swerve it for a year. We’ve already got a World Cup summer to deal with. I don’t know the dates but I’m guessing it starts shortly after the World Cup finishes, which will be ridiculous. Players will barely get a rest.

if (and it's a massive IF) we got Europe use it as a way of giving some of the younger players game time. We'll have the likes of Lookman, Dowell, Robertson etc back - add to them the likes of Klaasan and make Sandro. Even if only for the qualifying rounds they are more than good enough.
Be smart with it and it can be a good tournement to be part of. If we progress and decide to take it a bit more seriously then great.

Wonder how this result tonight might affect the FA cup place ? With Wigan now playing Southampton am i right if one of those wins, when they get to the semi final if they then reach the final it means only 6th in the league gets Europa?

Sheffield Wed. or Swansea V Rochdale or Spurs
Manchester United V Brighton
Leicester C. V Chelsea
Wigan V Southampton

Spurs United Chelsea in the semis with either Wigan or Southampton
If Chelsea go out of CL then they will go all out to win it.
Unless UTD or Spurs reach the CL final they will want it too
The City result was a blip.
I expect Southampton to beat Wigan easily

Well to be fair we have a squad full of Internationals, just sadly a mixture of yoot Internationals, players that are probably currently out of squads and some from Nations that didnt qualify.

That’s my point though. In terms of a top squad full of internationals we don’t have it. Pickford might go but prob won’t be first choice. Coleman is the only defender at the required standard whereas in the past we could have fielded 3/4 of England’s back 4. Schneiderlin has dropped out of international reckoning, as has Rooney.

If we want to challenge the top 6 we need players of the correct standard in every position. Too many old men and kids.

Well as ive just said in the other thread, we need wholesale changes if we want to do anything next season.

If we qualify for the Europa I would love to enter for it, I look forward to Thursday nights and I think it helps to make our name in Europe, and would also help to attract better players.
