What's wrong with that? Are we meant to just sit idly by if the Brexit vote results in economic disaster that was not foreseen at the time of the vote?

Parliament has to act in the best interests of the country - it makes total sense that they reserve the right to shoot down something that would be an act of self-harm to the country.

Totally agree with you. In fact it would be a total derogation of duty by any Government to continue down a path which clearly was damaging to the country's long term interests.

People just equate the words "Tony Blair" with "instantly wrong" I think, and don't actually read or listen to what he says. Which I can understand, even if it is stupid.

On what basis does the EU 'rip you off if you do well' ?
8.5 billion net and free movement for all and sundry without jobs -
Migration will still happen under control of skills for jobs we have not got skill for as yet.
a debate the am on LBC - is the master card the UK has over the failing EU
is that in negotiations if they play hard ball our government will simply lower corporation tax so low firms will not move if fact they will indeed come over here in their droves - thats allegedly swung the nissan deal - just a rumour but a feasible one lets face it who has growth other than germany in the EU?
We are way ahead of the rest in the EU - its the polictical union of the EU who will be belligerent to us and I trust may after Nissan to play the cards well for our country the experts so far have got it wrong we are supposed to be in recession with the car industry ready to move its the opposite the negotiations will be bumpy , but if the EU will see sense there is no reason we can or should be able too break free from that polictical union!

Hard and soft Brexit both off the table, fancy or silly Brexit now being considered.....

There was shock from all ends of the political spectrum this morning as it became apparent that the Government was no longer considering either hard or soft Brexit as viable.

“The fact is, hard Brexit or soft Brexit won’t work for us,” said an anonymous aide to Brexit minister David Davies.

“I suspect a fancy Brexit is now a very real possibility, although there is probably enough backing to give consideration to a silly Brexit.

“I think that it’s unlikely we’ll get a bouncy Brexit, as some have suggested, or a ribald Brexit, and certainly not a sexy Brexit, I don’t think anyone wants that.”

Labour have reacted to developments with anger.

“This is typical of this Government,” said a Labour insider.

“Blundering into a fancy Brexit with no consultation at all. What about a plump Brexit? An amusing Brexit? Even a slimy Brexit?

“I’m not necessarily saying that this is what I’d favour, ruling them out without consideration is madness.”

The Liberal Democrats joined the chorus of condemnation.

“I’m a bit cross, actually,” said a Liberal Democrat representative.

“I was definitely hoping to see some talk around a curly Brexit or a crispy Brexit.

“Sturdy Brexit, moody Brexit, rampant Brexit, grand Brexit, shrill Brexit. All of these should have been considered.”

However, the public seemed to be taking a more sanguine view.

“Fancy or bouncy? I don’t think so,” sighed a woman on the street.

“I think the only kind of Brexit we’ve got to look forward to is an endless Brexit.”

I notice you don't appear to have the same disdain for the International Monetary Fund, another of Greece's strict creditors.
Look I just want out of the bully boys political union Europe can trade with us if we did fail in the EU I would not like our country to be treated like greece that's all I am pointing out!
Italy will be next by the way!

Who pays for these tax cuts given we run a defect?

Given we have a skills shortage and (if you believe the figures) near full employment how will the companies that come here 'in droves' find suitable employees?

Bruce migration will no stop overnight all that will be in place is the migration will be based on skills needed with a work permit { which many other countries use outside the EU} we have a skill shortage so for you to state you hope the country goes bust is a bit off the wall if we have a successful Brexit, I was astounded when you posted that?

Those countries are wrong too. The free movement of people has been one of the finest thing western governments have achieved in modern times. And yes, I hope it (Brexit) does go belly up, especially if it's the illiberal hard sort that seems to be the case. Anyone familiar with network theory will be only to conscious of how contagious certain behaviours can be, and the world will be a significantly poorer place if more countries are led by the Trumps and Farages of this world.

well its a double edged sword more business more employment more tax and NI saved plus the 8.5 billion net loss on the EU membership as I stated it may be if the EU play nasty may will play nasty till a common ground is found!

There will be less business, less employment and so less tax and less NI collected.

I think I need to pass you a bigger shovel, Bruce. The vituperation in the above is staggering!

I have to say that you have shown your true colours in the previous post I replied to, and in the above. And to put it politely: Not nice. In fact, a total disgrace to label people you do not know the way you have done...

My thoughts are with those who have suffered from abuse since the opinion poll was counted, with those who have been told to f off back home. If you're upset by what I wrote about then frankly you can cry me a river.
