Hard cheese: Canada rejects British attempt to secure tariff-free exports
Many UK cheese makers could face 245% duty from 1 January, making exporting unaffordablewww.theguardian.com
Another UK industry throughly cheesed off about Brexit. I daresay @peteblue will be along to blame civil servants but we'll just have to a-brie to disa-brie. In truth I camembert to see the damage this whole sorry farce has and is causing. Un-feta'd trade with Canada is a must and anything else is just crackers.
Merry cheesemas.
No chance, the rebate won't be offered so the terms will be much worse, the greatest single act of self harm was sold on the idea it'd hurt our european kin folk as much if not worse as ourselves. It hasn't worked out that way. Was a great con to be in on, as those that took their 30 pieces of silver for such a betrayal have scarpered and won't have to feel or answer for the harm unleashed upon millions of ordinary people. Charlatans.Interesting discussion as we hopefully have grown up Government elected this time next year. Thought this would not happen in my life time. I believe we will be back in within a decade. At the table and not on menue.

BBC Radio 4 - The Briefing Room, Brexit: Could we rejoin the EU even if we wanted to?
Recent polling shows an appetite to rejoin the EU, but is this really a realistic option?www.bbc.co.uk
Unless there is a supermajority in England for EU membership - i.e., in excess of 70% - then we in the EU will not take the risk of seriously exploring you joining again. I’d love a pro-EU UK back, but not a country that insists on electing Tory headbangers who despise the EU.This rebate stuff is for adults of the 70s and 80s, Thatcher is just a weaking echo that means less and less as the years pass. She may define those who did and did not for her brand but not us younger folk.. And much different circumstances since Brexit became a thing. The geopolitics will to bring EU round its the nuclear option. And any serious UK government looking for sustainable economic growth is going to have look towards EU.
Pretty much antiquated all this special deal, no rebate, no carve outs, and you’ll be adopting our currency (in much the same way all new joiners must). Different people now running EU not tainted by Brexit.Unless there is a supermajority in England for EU membership - i.e., in excess of 70% - then we in the EU will not take the risk of seriously exploring you joining again. We’ve moved on from you. When you are truly ready to come back, we’ll talk then, but you’ll get no special deal, no rebate, no carve outs, and you’ll be adopting our currency (in much the same way all new joiners must). You had the sweet deal and spat it back at us.
I look forward to you rejoining - if I am still around - but this is not simply a conversation for the UK - or England - alone. When you are finally ready to rejoin, we’ll have to see if we are ready to have you back. On our terms.
We're not half as important as we always thought we were .Pretty much antiquated all this special deal, no rebate, no carve outs, and you’ll be adopting our currency (in much the same way all new joiners must). Different people now running EU not tainted by Brexit.
We are moving back towards the EU already much quicker than many anticipated just 2 years ago.
This point is proven by some of the remarkably entitled and deluded posts at the start of this thread, where some people were convinced the EU was going to get down on bended knee and offer a special deal for Britain once it had thrown its hissy fit and voted leave. We're not half as important as we always thought we were .
And unfortunately many think we still are.
