Germany, the fourth biggest economy in the world - even bigger than the mighty UK’s - has its problems as all countries do, but is a demonstrably superior place in which to live by most rational metrics.

I know. I live here.

Any issues Germany has encountered over the last few years are largely a consequence of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the necessity to become independent of Russian energy which it managed in about 18 months. An incredible achievement. Germany has also spent three times more than the UK on arming the Ukrainians - and about 25 times more than the French. Perhaps if the Germans had been properly craven, neither of these things - destroying Russia’s access to its biggest energy customer and arming the Ukrainians - would have happened.

Be happy they did.

I wouldn't worry about it, Pete was just butthurt over being lampooned so completely that he lashed out in the only direction his kind knows, i.e. at "ze Germans".

His 'question' was irrelevant, overly broad and he's not actually going to listen to anyone's reponses anyway, as already evinced by handwaving away statistics as biased.

Best just move on and don't bother humouring the rum-soaked gammon.

Spent about a year in Freiburg ages ago now. Life meant that I ended up settling in the States but I would have really liked to live longer in Germany. Loved my time there. I still find it hard to get my head around the fact that the UK made it more difficult for their citizens to live in other European countries.

Germany has plenty of problems, but all countries do. In general, it’s a great place to live.

I marvel at the serenity of some of our fellow GOT members here who as Europeans have had so many of their rights stripped away by imbeciles, racists, opportunist grifters, and backwoodsmen. My blood would boil and I’d be on the war path.

They've all gone underground. Save for the odd random mouthpiece on social media and elected Tory/right wing politicians it's almost impossible to find anyone willing to admit to being part of the 52% that voted "Leave".

But can you stand on your own two feet? Cut through all the bureaucracy and red tape? Make your own decisions? Dance to your own beat? I didn't think so! Here's to 14 more years of Tory rule, what a fine job they've done

…..in the chemist yesterday and the number of people being knocked back for prescriptions because there are no supplies was plentiful. The chemist said a few times, ‘blame Brexit’.

i know for a fact chemotherapy medicines are severely short and treatments are being cancelled daily because of shortages.

But what about Germany Eggs? What about GERMANY!?

@peteblue folk gave deigned to answer your question about Germany. Any rejoinder?

Sorry mate I’ve been a bit busy last couple of days. Mind you with responses such as this, I don’t think I’ll bother
