Who to believe though. The media will tell us anything just to get sales, the pollsters always seem to get it wrong (remember when they said we would all vote remain) but the people I know are quite happy out of the EU and the one remain voter wishes he’d voted leave. So I don’t know and I doubt anyone really does. I just wish the Remainers would give it a rest, accept the vote and get on with doing the best for the U.K. as it’s in all our interests…….
It would be great if the Leavers could make it work. Even a few of them.
Ideologically, historically, I can see an argument for leaving. But the complete lack of knowledge of the practical consequences of leaving and no plan to deal with them has turned out to be ridiculous. It’s not working because of that, but somehow it must be the “remainers” Embarrassing.

Ergh, I live in 2nd least "bregetful" area, next door to the Boston constituency, makes me sad.

Also our MP is John Hayes, that MP whos wife got emails from Braverman and has also spoken out about sacking civil servants for not breaking international law.

Looking at that map and the fact he's had a seat since 97 means it's probably gonna stay this way for a very long time.

Ah I spent many a day in spalding and Holbeach etc some years ago. Like a snapshot to the 1950s. Nice people on the surface but manic right wing anti foreigners if you scratch a bit. Truly bizarre place!

So basically, just ignore all the bad bits and hope that there might be some good bits in the future?

It's quite the catchy slogan

The people I know who voted Brexit (in real life, not on GOT) did so for one main reason: 'to take back control of our borders'.

Until Brexiteers admit that Brexit is not working, with unfettered immigration and border control included in that, then 'remoaners' are going to continue to sneer and prod.

I wonder if it's as simple as immigration being fine so long as it's not near them? For instance, it has been well documented that student immigration numbers have risen since Brexit. Most of those, one assumes, will be going to cities and university towns that tended to have a positive view of immigration anyway. It's been well documented that the discontent with immigration has dropped considerably, even as numbers have remained the same. Part of that might be the "taking back control" aspect, but I wonder also if it's been shifted out of sight of those who object to it?

I actually view it as the opposite. I have always viewed it that the people who tend to be most vocal about immigration are the folk from the home countries. The White, middle class, retirees.
Didn't London have the most remain voters per capita?

Has the discontent with immigration dropped? Boats, France, The Channel, hotels, undocumented...all massive talking points around my way

Indeed, it's those with less exposure to immigration that are more opposed to it (generally speaking), but I think some of those places that remain pro-Brexit are among the places that experienced quite a big change in the makeup of their communities, so I wonder if the changing nature of migration will have changed that. I don't suppose many Hong Kong citizens will have moved to Lincolnshire, for instance, nor will the rising student numbers affect those communities.

But those brexiteers fell for the big misrepresentation.
The UK always had the right to control the comings and goings from the country.
They just never bothered to.

To me, that also demonstrates just how poor the messaging was from the remain campaign.
Don’t disagree but there were a lot of reasons for this. Not many people are intensely pro eu or don’t admit it is without faults, whereas the leave campaign was able to paint this idea of a sunny utopia upon leaving. Notice the shift now to ‘10 year hit’ or ‘wasn’t implemented properly’ If that had been included in any leave campaign then we wouldn’t have ended up with the shitshow we have now.

Not aimed at you specifically, but it's a bugbear of the wife. Every single one of those "eastern" countries is actually a part of central Europe, alongside Austria, Switzerland, and Germany. They're often lazily branded as eastern as that can be a derogatory term in a way you wouldn't be able to use against the Swiss or Germans.

Yep my wife is Slovenian and gets Eastern European all the time, drives her crazy.
