I wonder, when we have inoculated our entire population by the summer, to whom we should give the excess vaccines that we have ordered. I think it would be nice to help the ROI get fully inoculated and perhaps send vaccines to our friends in the commonwealth...

hahaha.....apparently Arlene Foster is suggesting the same thing... well the ROI bit anyway.....

that’s why I’m being a bit non committal tbh. And why I’m being positive about our approach rather than negative about theirs. We’ll find out in due course I’m sure. In the meantime, I can understand why they have started to control the vaccines they do have. I’d want the U.K. to do the same.

We’ve done a good job with vaccinations so far. It’s hard to deny that. And it’s ok to admit it.

It doesn’t discount anything else at all. The approach to the pandemic overall has been dreadful. They’ve made mistakes over and over. And they should be held accountable.

This vaccination roll out is not one of those, though.
Yes
Even I didn't expect the EU's mask to slip quite so much.
you could say the same about certain posters in this thread who are absolutely revelling in this.

It’s quite noticeable that some of us on here happily quote the number of vaccines administered daily and the rate of improvement, while others make excuses for the EU, attempt to rubbish the U.K. and keep referring to how many have died, as if we didn’t know...
Says the man stating who he'd give life to like you're [Poor language removed] Jesus.

I've got family going unvaccinated that bit longer. I know basic compassion is beyond you but a great many are in the same boat.

Bruce, I would hope you know that I’m merely enjoying the current shambles of the EU. I would also hope that you would appreciate that everyone on here would be more than happy to help other people in Europe out with this, surely. Don’t confuse the EU with the people of Europe, and don’t pay too much attention to many of the things currently being written.

Allow us Leavers, who only last week were putting up with the remainer gloating regarding ham sandwiches and the like, to savour the self induced shambles coming from the EU. No doubt something will happen next week and once again events will turn...and meanwhile I hope everything turns out Ok for your family.....

Us leavers are enjoying the EU being short of vaccines in a pandemic, just as you have enjoyed customs officials taking a man's ham sandwich...

What a pillock

This vaccine nationalism is getting a bit boring now. All a bit childish. The EU might have made a slight miscalculation but it's nothing to gloat about ffs. Weird little Englanders.
It's a pretty spectacular mishandling to be honest. The contract stuff with AZ may well go in their favour, but overall the pace has been slow and the actions since AZ announced the lack of vaccines has been frantic - very unlike the EU.

But yes, the nationalism is ridiculous given that we may experience similar issues and we will be looking to the EU for 2nd dose Pfizer vaccines.

Yeah, probably should have phrased it differently. It's a cock up but the point scoring and 'we told you sos' are tiresome. We will still get a hammering from brexit.

Don’t worry @Bruce Wayne, it was all just joshing.

Yes. It is a bit odd. I can understand the 'the EU are slow' having credibility, but the EU triggering Art.16 as proof that Brexit was a good idea is just daft.

It's a very un-EU thing to do. Just good ammunition for the core strategy of Brexit - whipping up hostility to distract from your own shortcomings.

A slight miscalculation. Screwed up it’s vaccine ordering programme, panicked and tried to deflect its own failings onto a manufacturer that quite frankly is working miracles in the shortest of timescales, then dragged the U.K. into the argument when it has nothing to do with us. Then proposed putting a hard border between the ROI and NI For good measure. This is not a slight miscalculation it is a monumental screw up that will damage relationships for some while to come. Meanwhile the usual apologists and Eu lovers try to make out it’s not really an issue. If you don’t see it that way then fine, that’s your choice......
