I was clearly being ironic.

Look I despise tory government as much as the next man, I think I’ve been clear on that. I’m also a remainer. Something else I’ve been clear on. I find it funny that people are slagging off the EU because we have made a list with the US, Australia, Singapore, South Korea, Canada and Japan. I’ll also remember it when people have got a problem with us sending foreign aid elsewhere. The EU have an issue with vaccine supply whether through incompetence or something else. But they are behaving exactly how the U.K. would in exactly the same boat. Maximising their supply.

but your logic regarding vaccine procurement and rollout is like next door when people say ancelotti made all the good signings and brands made all the bad ones.

Yet if it was the other way around, what would now be saying about the U.K. Again, I find it incredible that many Remainers cannot bring themselves to admit that the EU have made cock up after cock up over this.......but I’m sure it will now all be swept under the carpet......

I’ve no idea if it is a cock up on the EU’s paryor not. But we’ve deffo handled the procurement better than the EU. And the roll out has been more effective.

I’m not sure how anyone can argue about that.

(It’s not evidence that we should have left. Or evidence that the government have handled the pandemic well though).

I think a lot of people are conflating the EU procurement approach with their AZ contract dispute. It’s entirely possible that both the EU got their procurement wrong but also that AZ have breached the contract. It’s 2 separate things.

that’s why I’m being a bit non committal tbh. And why I’m being positive about our approach rather than negative about theirs. We’ll find out in due course I’m sure. In the meantime, I can understand why they have started to control the vaccines they do have. I’d want the U.K. to do the same.

We’ve done a good job with vaccinations so far. It’s hard to deny that. And it’s ok to admit it.

It doesn’t discount anything else at all. The approach to the pandemic overall has been dreadful. They’ve made mistakes over and over. And they should be held accountable.

This vaccination roll out is not one of those, though.

This will please the Europhobes.
My region of France has a great set up for a vaccination program, but it's impossible to get an appoinment, even for the over 75s.
This is the fault of the EC !

The attachment asks, "Why can't I get an appointment" the official reply being
"Because the first lot have been taken up very quickly"
"A new set of appointments will be made progressively depending on delivery and stocks of vaccine decided at European level.
"For each new appointment , an appointment for the 2nd dose will also be given.
covid notice.webp

I see VDL is firmly in the sights of some in Europe and words like ‘resign’ are coming to the fore. I actually feel sorry for VDL as I think she does at least have the best interests of the EU at heart and not just the ‘project’.....oh well....

I think she inherited the poison chalice.

I think she inherited the poison chalice.

Well unfortunately it’s all happened on her watch, Brexit negotiations and this sodding virus. Dealing with 27 individual countries is pretty tough, Boris only had to deal with 3 and that was a pain. So I give her credit for the work she did, with Barnier, in getting an agreement over the line, but whoever she had leading the Vaccine issue needs their arse kicking, and whoever has been advising her over the last few days needs to be shown the door.....

For the laymen I can appreciate the concept.

Allowing the NHS Armed forces and Councils to do their jobs should be standard practice, the great British state when allowed to operate unimpeded by Government and its preferred ideologies can achieve much.

The adequate procurement and subsequent administration of of vaccines is yet to be fully determined... It's of note the UK is against recommended dosing of some of the vaccines being administered.

It's of note than border controls are now gathering pace, having half vaccinated people wondering around for weeks longer than they should is very dangerous, as its well noted in science as a key component to vaccine resistant viruses.
There are no laymen on GOT, only experts. Lots and lots of experts.

Excellence demonstration in how shockingly awful Johnson Brexit deal is.

Note those embarrassing U-turns mate?

Yeah, that.

It's like celebrating a goal while being 20 nil in 87 th minute. Yippee, they have finally U-turned. If EU goals are not met don't think they will mind. While we ratchet up

105, 571 deaths

It's not though is it?

However, pimping/gleefully quoting death figures is a shitheads trick.
