Yes I did, and I did it as well as I could. If you’ve never done it, you won’t know just how complex it is.....
OK mate My family and friends have suffered from redundancy. Tell me how fecking complex it is please.
No you haven't, why would I ask now?
I’m sure I have explained this to you before.
Ok....
Well putting aside the mechanics, law, unions, payoffs, transfers, closure of a facility etc etc etc, there are the people. I have never made a person redundant who deserved it because of their own performance. It’s always been because of the incompetence of those they worked for.
The first time I had to close a plant down I was still in my twenties. I had lots of HR people advising and so on, but having to let hundreds go and relocate hundreds of others, I took the decision to speak to the whole plant as a group and then individually with every single person over the next four or five days. I could have delegated this to the line management and perhaps should have, but I’m glad I did it as it gave me an insight that many never see.
Now remember all of these people were good people, the vast majority highly qualified and experienced engineers. But every one of them sat in front of me to either be given the news that we were letting them go or were being retained and relocated elsewhere, if they wished.
Now put yourself in my position and imagine looking into the eyes of these men and women, most with families and mortgages and telling them you were letting them go. Each and every one of them having different issues and taking it in differing ways. Some very bullish and had jobs lined up, some desperate for work and in tears. That Is complex, and as you are lucky that you have never had to do it, don’t have a go at those who had to, just count your lucky stars.....
But you didn’t did you. You were asked about the complexity involved and your answer put aside all the complex bits in the first paragraph and proceeded to tell the tale from only your perspective and then rounded it off neatly with the unsubstantiated “that is complex.”Gets asked a question, give an honest answer, get a shedload of abuse.....you’re welcome guys, but no more.....
It’s an unnecessary shitshowHeard the other day at work that April is the next big crunch date for Brexit. Thats when most Supermarkets are expecting increased disruption, similar to what we have seen happen in Northern Ireland apparently. Didn't realise but there is a post brexit transition which finally ends Jan 2023. Seems like its just going to get steadily tougher until we see the full effect.
That was very close to what the CEO said as well. It’s an unnecessary shitshow

Any cheering the success of the deal is going to look pretty silly by the time its all done. I get the sentiment behind brexit but to have frictionless trade, there needs to be rules, or it simply can't happen.Makes me lol that Brexiters crow about not having to adhere to EU rules, (that we agreed to) anymore.
When the evidence is 180 degree not the case
I would suggest it to be more... we'll begin to see exactly the benefits we've lost as each stage of the transition ends. More jobs will shift to the EU, trade will become more difficult. Not until Jan 2023 do we fully leave and be able to say brexit is done. The whole, the French hate us stereotype, from my experience couldnt be further from the truth. It’s been a proper eye opener seeing just how badly the EU treats the rest of the world with its protectionist ‘technical difficulties’. We will no doubt work our way around them as they try to stitch us up for leaving, but for now France can enjoy sticking it to the Brits until of course it bites them on the arse......

Being able to trade outside of EU is not any easier or more beneficial, its just a lot more of the same red tape. You can't work around such red tape, or it would be illegal... so really not sure where that myth comes from. The friction is back and its here to stay.
Seems more and more Brexiteers are regretting their vote but I've yet to see one remainer say, I wish I had voted for it, which is rather telling.
I'll raise you, if you can find one remainer on the entire Internet that wishes they voted the other way, please point them out.Well if you find one Brexiteer on here who has changed their mind please point them out.....

Can’t say I know anyone who’s reconsidered. Know more remainers than leavers likeIn real life I know a few, alas in here I know of none.....
If real life is a cross section of opinion, the entire Internet should turn a few up then. I've yet to see one.In real life I know a few, alas in here I know of none.....
