Every EU nation could have banned the practice within their territorial waters from early 2019. There’s a complete EU ban coming into force in June, but don’t let facts get in the way. However, the Eu also has exceptions to allow this practice, one exception being to Holland....but you knew that didn’t you....
What part of we could have banned it nearly 2 years ago are you struggling with?Is this really what we are going to have to put up with...everything would have happened in June or 2022. And of course you are right, everything would have happened eventually, just not quickly and there is the difference. The first Covid vaccine was approved eventually and the Oxford one will no doubt be approved eventually. It describes the bloc quite well doesn’t it...EventUally.......

The Heil or the Brexit Bugle obvs didn’t share this detail so you’ve soiled yourself on here celebrating a massive ‘win’ as you’ve been conned with BS - again. So now you’re crying about facts being quoted back to you. Embarrassing that you’re so gullible and never seem to check the veracity of the stuff you regurgitate on here tbh.
Agree with a lot of that. Not really, for several reasons.
First, we have no parallel timeline where we stayed in the EU to compare ourselves with. When people say "leaving the EU is a disaster", they don't mean people will be destitute on the streets and the return of workhouses etc. etc. they mean it will result in a decline of living standards gradually and perpetually compared to what we could have done. So everything that goes wrong in the next decade will be excused by being the fault of something else, be it COVID or whatever convenient excuse comes over the horizon.
Second, euro-scepticism isn't going to go away, regardless of how much of an obvious disaster leaving is. So rejoining would require another referendum years after the fact, more division and, if we did rejoin, more of the UK being bells from the sidelines forevermore. That's if there is a UK of course, because I think it's absolutely nailed on that Scotland goes independent and Ireland joins together in the not to distant future; no more than 20 years away from both IMO.
Third, the actual text of the agreement makes room for disputes about "level playing field" stuff and so on, but it basically is the agreement, it can't in essence change and there'll be no appetite for it to change.
If the EU survives the next 20-30 years, and I personally see parallels in history towards it not surviving simply because of the rise of nationalism/populism resulting in global conflicts in the not too distant future (only reason they haven't happened already is due to nuclear weaponry existing)... well anyway, if it survives, there might be discussion about a different kind of re-joining then, but with much less influence than we already had due to a vastly reduced standing on the international stage.
But, again, we have blue passports now, so who cares. Huzzah!
Well if he was planning to take his dog or cat on a day trip to France to go walkies today, he could have put that as an answer. I'd have had some doubts over his honesty had he come back with that though.Well he can't take his dog or cat out of GB. Pet passports cancelled.

No Johnson could have done it anytime in his premiership and beggars belief why our government has been messing about with partial informal bans here and there. Well most know why it's been saved until now, to con ignorance. Can you not just be happy that the U.K. have banned it.....

Probably time for Pete's drink...No Johnson could have done it anytime in his premiership and beggars belief why our government has been messing about with partial informal bans here and there. Well most US know why it's been saved until now, to con ignorance.
Let's hope it's a total ban not just ban on foreign registered vessels as originally negotiated.
