If/when things go tits up do these leaving agreements allow us room to negotiate a closer relationship in future. i.e joining the SM or customs union?
There won't be any conflicts once the EU gets its army. It'll just be Toady Twatface with his saber defending the world from them. Not really, for several reasons.
First, we have no parallel timeline where we stayed in the EU to compare ourselves with. When people say "leaving the EU is a disaster", they don't mean people will be destitute on the streets and the return of workhouses etc. etc. they mean it will result in a decline of living standards gradually and perpetually compared to what we could have done. So everything that goes wrong in the next decade will be excused by being the fault of something else, be it COVID or whatever convenient excuse comes over the horizon.
Second, euro-scepticism isn't going to go away, regardless of how much of an obvious disaster leaving is. So rejoining would require another referendum years after the fact, more division and, if we did rejoin, more of the UK being bells from the sidelines forevermore. That's if there is a UK of course, because I think it's absolutely nailed on that Scotland goes independent and Ireland joins together in the not to distant future; no more than 20 years away from both IMO.
Third, the actual text of the agreement makes room for disputes about "level playing field" stuff and so on, but it basically is the agreement, it can't in essence change and there'll be no appetite for it to change.
If the EU survives the next 20-30 years, and I personally see parallels in history towards it not surviving simply because of the rise of nationalism/populism resulting in global conflicts in the not too distant future (only reason they haven't happened already is due to nuclear weaponry existing)... well anyway, if it survives, there might be discussion about a different kind of re-joining then, but with much less influence than we already had due to a vastly reduced standing on the international stage.
But, again, we have blue passports now, so who cares. Huzzah!
Over and out...
Don't let yourself go down the rabbit hole of being pitted against other sections of society. People of all ages and circumstances have to stand together. This just drives the politics of fear that separates us and allows things like Brexit to occur in the first place. All the retired Boomers that voted for this should hang their heads in shame. No consideration shown towards all the younger people still in the workforce who will suffer the most. I guess a lot of those who voted Leave are already dead, after four winters and Covid, but I do wonder how many will live long enough to see the full mess they're responsible for creating.
To be fair, Pete is so adroit at filling in forms that he incorporated his artisan bedpan business with ample time to spare to wind us up in between WhatsApp'ing Matt Hancock to give him the elevator pitch on the deluxe British made wares. They literally take the piss.Imagine sitting at New Year and posting this countdown at 11.
You reportedly own a pub ffs.
Stuff of kopites and dangers
The WA payments will be due soon. Should go some way to funding it you'd thinkThere won't be any conflicts once the EU gets its army. It'll just be Toady Twatface with his saber defending the world from them.

Airport queues I reckon. What are people going to constantly moan about on Twitter now? They’ll actually have to develop personalities and interests.
Personally I'm just going to sit here and wait for the retired and National Front to make Britain great again. What are people going to constantly moan about on Twitter now? They’ll actually have to develop personalities and interests.
