No hold-ups at Dover this am ...LBC.......

Only the French predicted to be awkward.....

With the New Year arriving on a long weekend, concerns of an immediate repeat of last week’s spectacle have diminished. The port and its users will have the chance to ease into the new reality of a customs regime at the formerly open border.

“It should be quiet for at least the first few days,” said Richard Ballantyne, who heads the British Ports Association. “If there are blips of people turning up without the correct documentation, if it’s going to happen at any time, it’s better to be then.”

Lorries at Dover whizzing through today.......over to the EU...... project fear over ...
Yes France may get awkward I am old enough to remember them burning English lambs on the border as they were superior quality meat before we joined the EEC in 1973 .......
I remember Ted heath just taking us in without a vote on a free trade policy - meltdown in the UK it settled down - we never ever voted on a political union - till 4 years ago .....
It may be bumpy, but in history it will settle down e are now an independent country free to trade worldwide, they will kick up if we thrive so let's hope we thrive .......let them form their EU army .........the cost of that we will not have to pay for .......
It's new years day one of the quietest days of the year as most nations adhere to it being a bank holiday, besides factor in COVID and the majority of us are in full lockdown and supermarkets have made no secret of stockpiling, it will be end of next week when it will.start next. Virtually no short life fresh fruit or veg at the supermarket I've just been in, reminded me of East German themed supermarket could be local issue, bet reckon it's not.
