Khan should sort out London and the daily murders. Playing gesture politics is a way of trying to show he is relevant in some form of way.

I see that the EU are now saying we should return the Elgin marbles as a part of any deal. I would suggest that Boris asks for the repatriation of all of our dead soldiers who fought to keep Europe free as any part of the deal. This is entering the realms of total absurdity and stupidity. Just walk away... Rip up the divorce settlement and trade on WTO. We will be fine, we will continue to grow and the EU can do whatever it wants and look completely ridiculous and spiteful in the eyes of the rest of the world......
You do know it was the Americans and the Russians who really won the war
Britain would have been invaded without their intervention

Small and irrelevant point but after the Battle of Britain, invasion was never a realistic possibility and total defeat (of the kind experienced by France) was highly unlikely.
er.
Although Britain stood alone against Germany after the fall of France, nearly a quarter of the RAF pilots who participated in the Battle of Britain were from other countries including Poland, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Czechoslovakia, Belgium, France, the United States and South Africa.

Yes, I am aware of this. But this was before the Americans joined the war and the Russians were still officially allied with Germany. I was merely disputing that Britain would have been invaded without the intervention of those powers. That is inaccurate.

Your first point is correct.

You can't say that for sure. If they had remained allied with the Russians they'd have thrown all their resources into invading the UK.

Very possibly. But again, it wasn't the Russians choice to break that alliance. I would argue the point stands that Britian successfully repelled the German attempts to prepare an invasion without support of the US or Russia.

This is not a little Englander, rose-tinted, view of the glory days incidentally. Merely my own take from my readings, you are welcome to disagree.

Or, if the merry cans hadn't joined in, who knows, the Soviets may have gone on to take over western Europe. Including the British Isles.
