The EU guidelines published today which sould give an idea about what to expect in the coming negotiations..

As has been the case throughout this process, we know what the EU position is. Still waiting for something from the UK.

We’re just as organised and open as the EU are.

They published 30 odd pages of their opening negotiating position and strategy for the next stage of Brexit, and we had Boris giving a rambling speech about nymphs and cupids.

That's a long term view whereas I'm am very much talking about the next 5 years.

It's not a command to suggest that people direct efforts away from trying to re-fight the referendum in the hope of a different result, towards pushing for as close alignment with the EU as possible. People can do whatever they want but there comes a point if you're banging your head against a brick wall, you have to accept that the wall has won.
Sticking with your WW2 comparisons, appeasement!

@NilSatisOptimum
I'm not sure what you want me to take away from this?

I asked you what about my post was about the war and you've replied with a quote from a previous post.

That people are allowed to pursue another referendum if they so wish.

Its the same conversation, you used a WW2 comparison of being holed up on some island and continuing to fight despite hostilities ending, to compare those who wish for another referendum. Indeed, its an unfortunate comparison, as its been very much part of the Brexiteer jingoism to castigate EU and remainer/rejoiners. with.

I’m not surprised you’re confused. You couldn’t even spell your username correctly. I imagine opening a box of cornflakes pushes you to the brink of your cognitive abilities.
Think you will have to actually tell him we are in transition/implementation period and until that ends we are in the EU, and then we wont be leaving me thinks, there will be some fudge on a frame work to implement the implementation period, an extension. Its just matter how much they want to happy clap Johnson lies.

I'd point out that my comments were not really about WWII so much as the obsession and loyalty to the cause, rather than shoehorned jingoism, which so often are used to rally the Brexit cause.

And I'd also point out that leave voters and jingoists don't have possession over war metaphors, they can be applied to good effect by anyone, without glorying or celebrating warfare.

It is a nice ceiling to be fair. I recommend visiting if you're ever in the area.

Perhaps more nonsensical was this statement, however:

"From Brussels to China to Washington tariffs are being waved around like cudgels even in debates on foreign policy where frankly they have no place - and there is an ever growing proliferation of non-tariff barriers and the resulting tensions are letting the air out of the tyres of the world economy. "

It's Britain that is walking away from the closest and most detailed free trade agreement on the planet. One that not only frees up trade between nations, but mobility and cooperation on so many things. He's walking away from that in favour of what are, by his own words, going to be something significantly less free, precisely because that's what he's campaigned for. He's a complete duplicitous arse.

I will say, however, that (without having fact checked any of his statements), the rest of it doesn't seem too bad at all. He doesn't talk about retrenching from the world, but rather going further than the EU on many things. The bloke's a habitual bullshitter, but that would at least be something positive, and heaven knows this debate needs some of that, as at the moment it's very tangible what is being lost, but very intangible what might be being gained.
