Who knows. Personally I have always held the belief that there is no deal that can work without tearing up the UK, but he could have least of tried and come out with the truth. We can do this but it means this (hard border in Ireland) and because they haven't specifically said this because they don't want to upset the leavers is why you get people like @peteblue thinking that there is an easy alternative, when there isn't.

Put it back to the people, and instead of a load of different choices on the ballot sheet that will just have voters all over the gaff make it out to just 2 questions:

1. Do you want to leave the EU with no deal 2. Do you want to remain in the EU.

Now I believe in democracy (it's a shame MPs don't feel the same way) and think the original referendum result should stand (I voted remain) but at the end of the day Brexit is just going to drag on, and on, and on...……………………. and all this crap about seeking an extension is a farce.

does that extend to collusion with the EU?

It was a prudent and responsible move. Otherwise if EU ignored the effort after the event, it would be up there with Boris Johnson laziness

That's what they are doing though, yes leave but go get an acceptable deal. Johnson was supposed to breathe fresh impetus into the negotiations but hasn't even tried. He was always going to go for a no deal.

I actually do believe he was going to try and bring back Mays deal just not in name, with some cosmetic changes. However, events have spiralled out of control. And he has been found wanting as I and many thought he would.

I think you need to make the referendum different in nature for it be seen as credible. it cannot be a re run of the first vote.

In this way I actually think Thornberry's idea on QT makes some sense, at least you are offering a negotiated deal, so you know what you are voting for.

The fact that she says she will be campaigning against her own deal isn't necessarily inconsistent with what May for example did - campaigned for remain, then went and negotiated a deal.

I know what you're saying Kev, but I wouldn't put my house on MPs agreeing on something they all see as credible, too many agenda's.

You don't think the huge number of remain voters deserve any representation in parliament?
Not 70% who have thwarted Brexit from day 1 even after voting article 50 through not realising they were passing law -
then have the cheek to say the PM is breaking law......
lets have a GE and get the issue over one way or the other we either Brexit or Remain - a 2nd vote on the in out would be too messy as this lot would argue for months on what would be on the ballot paper....
A GE straight forwards....... IMO its Labours best chance of getting in power....... if the clarify a correct decision on Brexit .......
