Why would they dance to Johnson's tune? They know he can't be trusted. He's the one that made a load of commitments that he can't fulfill. He's desperate for an election before the 31st October because he'll lose a load of votes after he's shown the electorate that he's a liar.

I think he needs to come out not so much for the public voters, but because he was chosen by the Tory party on the basis of that he will get the country out on the 31st of October come what may. Once he fails he has very little to offer and the knives will be out for him.

Caught a glimpse of that too. Apparently some of his advisors think it would be a great look if he was literally put on trial and sent to prison, a 'martyr' for Brexit.

Others... are not so sure.

Given that the Bill contains no power of arrest, no sentence for breaking it or even mention what would happen if someone did breach it, I think this talk of martyrdom and prison can safely be filed among all the other absolute fibs that they have spouted these past three years.

I would. If the Lib Dems won a majority (never gonna happen though) in an election then I'd accept them ignoring the referendum and withdrawing article 50. Because in fairness to the Dems there's no confusion about their stance over Brexit so for them to get a majority would speak volumes about the feelings of the country.

Fair enough. To project things out further though, and @Joey66, feel free to interject in response to my original question, lets speculate that the polls are right and no party gets anything close to a majority, how has that helped clarify matters? It just seems to be repeating 2017 again in the hope that a crushing consensus will emerge in what is still a very divided country.

I'm not sure what I'm looking forward to more to be honest, @Old Blue 2 's song to mark the sun coming up or Johnson lolling about in a ditch.

I agree, but do you really think it's Labour's fault that didn't happen? May wanted to do it all on her own.

I don't blame any of them any less or more tbh, mate.

May's an idiot, horrible. Labour have been next to useless in the last two years and more concerned with in-fighting (I don't think Corbyn is responsible for that but the only thing that's finally united his party under him is Johnson trying to go to the EU table with no deal as an option – that says a lot, doesn't it).

The pools are never right Bruce - 2016 democracy died - So lets have another GE to put MPs in who believe in Democracy - as for poor Ken Clarke the Father of the house he and Norman Fowler were the scourge of the hard working and poor in the 1980's under a Thatcher government - he was the one who stated if we never joined the Euro our economy would crash - no Bruce put it back to the people or are you scared Brexit Mps may get in...?

...as said, it's HER answer. It wont be the party's official position.
Labour are over the place on Brexit they are stalling as they cannot agree a party line - as for this proroguing of parliment - you do realise its extend only 4 days extra as the main parties are having the party conferences.......4 days for them to spit their dummies out FGS ists like kids in the playground we need a rethink on how all MPs serve us ......

Yep. Would he go that far though? Also is Corbyn then obliged to go to the queen to try and form a government or could we end up with no PM at all!
Maybe. I think I saw that the EU could just accept that the decision had royal ascent and wouldn't necessarily require the PM to request an extension.
