Have a GE then for the best interest of the country get this uncertainty sorted.....
Why would they dance to Johnson's tune? They know he can't be trusted. He's the one that made a load of commitments that he can't fulfill. He's desperate for an election before the 31st October because he'll lose a load of votes after he's shown the electorate that he's a liar.

I'm genuinely a bit confused though. Joe has always been fervently against a 2nd referendum, but lets say (hypothetically) the Lib Dems won on a blatant remain ticket, would he then shrug his shoulders and say "democracy guv"?
I think you're expecting a bit too much joined up thinking there though.

Behaving like children?

For acting the the best interests of the country?

The best interests of the country would have been the entire government and opposition working together on Brexit to get the best deal possible.

It would have been Labour being clear on their stance in the first place. Their 2017 manifesto said they would respect the referendum result.

I'm not disputing that they should have acted to stop no deal. But they don't get any credit. They've already p***** it all away.

Oh I know. People who for years have regarded the referendum result as sacrosanct, and wouldn't have dreamed of upsetting the Tory/DUP 'majority' whilst they made big noises about 'brexit means brexit', and 'no deal is better than a bad deal' etc. are now suddenly rushing over themselves to demand one as the government has managed to self-inflictedly turn itself into a minority. This Parliament won't wave through a no-deal, so we urgently need another one.

It genuinely is just picking and choosing the parts of democracy you like, rather than actually respecting the process. And that's not sustainable.

It would have been Labour being clear on their stance in the first place.

Whilst it's very fair to have a pop at Labour for this, they had no real need for a firm unequivocal position as any direction they turned would lose them support to either Lib Dems or Tories/BP, and they hadn't actually been invited to be part of the decision-making anyway (which I agree they should have been, as well as the leaders of the devolved administrations).

In the end I think they've lost sigificant support on both sides anyway.

I would. If the Lib Dems won a majority (never gonna happen though) in an election then I'd accept them ignoring the referendum and withdrawing article 50. Because in fairness to the Dems there's no confusion about their stance over Brexit so for them to get a majority would speak volumes about the feelings of the country.

I've not read the telegraph today but apparently Johnson saying he wont obey parliament? And has written to party members saying that.

Isnt that act itself illegal?! As in surely a PM cannot publicly state he'll go against the law of the land?

Caught a glimpse of that too. Apparently some of his advisors think it would be a great look if he was literally put on trial and sent to prison, a 'martyr' for Brexit.

Others... are not so sure.

I think he would need to resign to do that.
