The problem being that any specific Leave deal will also be ignoring the wishes of millions of Leave voters, as Tim alluded to in the post you quoted. There's an excellent précis of the situation in the latest Chris Grey blog:

I think it was Richard Thaler who this week said that May's "Brexit means Brexit" is simultaneously one of the most idiotic and useless political expressions of our generation. It literally means nothing.

It's the biggest vote loser going to the people who want a hard brexit. It never ceases to amaze me how myopic people can be that their view is the only view or at least the most popular in the face of all evidence. Just like the people who vehemently support BJ/JC think there side will romp to victory in an election (they are most likely wrong).

There are large swathes of this country who voted on either side would vote for a negotiated deal to prevent a no deal Brexit. Probably most ardent remainers would be willing to go along with it too in the hope that with remain on the paper people then chose that.

Seeing that nearly half of the people voted to remain anyhow, allied with the people who voted for a non-no deal leave, I would say that strategy is more vote winning than simply saying leave at all costs, or exclusively remain.
So Labour are going to get a a hard negotiation of a leave deal, and then put it to a vote in a referendum?
The audience burst out with scorn, and laughter.......
.....that's how cost efficient they are.........

Why do you read that comment and the first thing that comes into your head is point scoring?.

If Finland say no to an extension, which is their absolute right, then the UK leave the EU on a no deal basis on October 31st, irrespective of everything going through Parliament at the moment.

That's the problem with this country at the moment. Everybody is more focused on getting one over on the other side than doing what they should be doing, which is working together to find a solution to this mess which has to be a sensible softer Brexit agreement acceptable to all sides.

There is one ray of hope and that is the Kinnock amendment that sneaked through the "No deal" bill yesterday, which calls for Mays WA agreement, as amended, to be voted on again. I'm not saying it will get through as no doubt both sides will whip against it. But at least it shows that there are some sensible people in the Commons at the moment that are actually looking for a solution, rather than just stopping everything that crosses their path.
I was just pointing out the the nonsense approach that Johnson has taken. As if threatening no deal is going to change anything. I agree we should have sensible people trying to come to a compromise. But while we have Johnson and Farage spouting nonsense all of the time that isn't going to happen. Gullible people will keep on believing every lie they tell.

That wont be Labour's position going into the election.

What ever party gets in a Remain party or a Brexit party - it's called democracy Bruce.......

In terms of helping the situation though, what will it achieve? If you want to make it simpler, imagine your Tories win an election, what will that do to the situation (if we assume that no deal is off the table by that point)?
