That's total bollox in my opinion mate.

Love him or hate him, and I personally think he's a bit of a bellend, his only goal has ever been to get the UK out of the EU. He took a back seat after the referendum because he thought he'd done his job, and the vacuum he left in UKIP allowed right wing extremists to infiltrate that party and he subsequently distanced himself from it.

He only formed the BP when it became clear that Brexit wasn't being actioned and he had to act before the EU elections.

If the UK ever get out of the EU, he is effectively making himself redundant from his current job.

I don't know where you come up with this rubbish.
There's being dense, then there's this.

And of course publicly backed him after the leadership contest.

Jo Johnson has clearly looked at his brother and the UK interest and said 'this is more important than your dream and legacy'

Damning.
Jo Johnson has basically said "that feller I grew up with for decades, and know more than any of you lot, cant be trusted, he's a wrongun and I wont support him".

How any voter is supposed to take him seriously I dont know.

He's just about toxic to all but the craziest gammon.

And yet we can't vote him out because all the other parties are refusing to have an election.

It's rubbish is it? You're talking abut a man who has said on many occasions that he'd rather stay in the EU than go for a deal that gets Britain out. THAT'S how principled he is.

You;re making the huge mistake here of taking a feller like Farage at their word on the offers they make. He is a gigantic ego seizing on political turmoil to advance his own power grab. He's a populist politician that sees the bigger picture of the breakdwn of scoial democracy and wants to get in there and call themselves king of the world (see Salvini, Berlusconi, Trump, Le Pen, Macron, Orban, Wilders....).

He uses Brexit, that's his vehicle.
In my opinion it is rubbish Dave. It's all opinion based on no fact whatsoever. His view of Brexit does not involve membership of the single market or customs union and there are millions more who agree with him. But that doesn't make him Trump. I don't believe he has any plans whatsoever to become PM.

On the one hand you scorn his party as being single policy jokers, and then start making him out to be the Bond villain planning the breakdown of world democracy. You can't have it both ways Davelol.

We'll see who is right if we ever manage to get Brexit agreed.

The thing I don't get is this, Labour say they don't want a GE until leaving with no deal is taken off the table, surely then the way to make sure that deffo happens is by them being in power.

They could agree to election now, then parliment is shut down. Johnson moves the date for the election into November and on the 31st we leave on a no deal.

No deal is default by law on October 31st, cant be stopped without a deal or extension or revoking article 50
This is why Johnson is being so disingenuous calling Corbyn a chicken trying to dupe people who arent following closely

@Hawhaw

Give me a couple of quantifiable benefits of leaving the EU - how is it going to make the UK richer?

If not financially, in what way does the EU affect your day to day life?

Jusy interested.

They haven't made a law but they have set up the right to remain scheme which gives non-Brit EU nationals upto December 2020 to register, and have also now made it free of charge. This applies even in the event of no deal provided that person is working here prior to the date we leave. The terms of the scheme are quite concise and there are lots of good articles on it if you google it.

According to Bruce, still over 2m haven't registered yet but as far as I'm concerned that's their own fault as the scheme has been open since April.

great post, i've never heard of this...maybe the pro-Remain media are not promoting it, preferring to have non-Brit folk fear they'll be thrown out after 31 Oct. Connie Huq and that Portugese lady losing their minds in interviews seems to confirm this.

Insidious propaganda if so.

The Tory Party must feel dazed and confused now. The shock and awe of Cummings and his puppet man-child has had the effect of completely disorienting them as a political force.

I think Corbyn's instinct is to get out there and fight this lot now while they're staggering about and disillusioned. The rest of the opposition parties and his own back benches though are more concerned with taking no deal off the table.
