The SNP position is actually quite interesting. For the second independence referendum to be won, they will need no deal to be avoided.

It sounds counterintuitive given no deal would seem to make a yes vote more likely in Scotland. However, if Scotland is an independent member of the EU (as would be likely) and the UK is in a no deal position, we just end up with the same backstop debate as for NI but along the England Scotland border instead, meaning there would need to be a hard border in place for customs reasons (or at least until a trade deal is reached).

My view is that Scottish independence will now happen and the UK will break up. It’s just a matter of time.
Maybe to move forward, it needs to. Think a hard border is likely as well, A1 and M6/M74 borders are never busy so may be a short term answer. Agree with you, think its inevitable now

Annunziata rees Mogg really is a class act, I love to see powerful women stand up for what’s right. Kate Hoey is another great woman.

Very positive role models
She's an absolute dilettante. She stood in my constituency in 2010 and got absolutely taken apart at the local hustings. I actually felt bad for her it was that embarrasing. Had no grasp of local issues whatsoever and had nothing but platitudes to offer.

The only thing to her credit was refusing to stand as "Nancy Mogg", as Cameron reportedly requested of her. lol

I was indeed referring to your previous, impressive post.

Regarding David Davies,I though he was the “Brexit Secretary” and was in charge of the negotiations.

Am I wrong in thinking that?

I am sure I have seen pictures of him sat across the table with Mr. Barnier.
Yes. Remember that? Barnier and his team had any number of documents and papers. Davis walked into the room with his hands virtually in his pockets. Set the tone no end did that.....

"only a socialist could do that to his brother, only a socialist could regard familial ties as being so trivial as to shaft his own brother.”

Continuing:

Miliband is a "discrete agents devoid of ties to society or each other, and that’s how Stalin could murder 20 million people”.

I wonder who said that?
Ha Ha.

And the difference between the Miliband case and his own is that David Miliband didn't walk away from his brother after being brought into front line politics by him.

As an American watching the "parliament" talks.... I would go absolutely mental having to listen to people moaning, yelling, and whining while trying to speak. Good luck on whatever the outcome. That will be the last time I watch that. Cant wait for October 30th though just to see

And of course publicly backed him after the leadership contest.

Jo Johnson has clearly looked at his brother and the UK interest and said 'this is more important than your dream and legacy'

Damning.

No you're quite right Khal in that David Davies was initially in charge of the negotiations and he is indeed a Brexiteer..

But my point was that we'd already lost any initiative in the negotiations due to the own goals I mentioned earlier. These were made by May and her inner circle and senior ministers, most of whom were Remainers as I said. I think it's fair to say that David Davies was not one of her "inner circle"

That's total bollox in my opinion mate.

Love him or hate him, and I personally think he's a bit of a bellend, his only goal has ever been to get the UK out of the EU. He took a back seat after the referendum because he thought he'd done his job, and the vacuum he left in UKIP allowed right wing extremists to infiltrate that party and he subsequently distanced himself from it.

He only formed the BP when it became clear that Brexit wasn't being actioned and he had to act before the EU elections.

If the UK ever get out of the EU, he is effectively making himself redundant from his current job.

I don't know where you come up with this rubbish.
It's rubbish is it? You're talking abut a man who has said on many occasions that he'd rather stay in the EU than go for a deal that gets Britain out. THAT'S how principled he is.

You;re making the huge mistake here of taking a feller like Farage at their word on the offers they make. He is a gigantic ego seizing on political turmoil to advance his own power grab. He's a populist politician that sees the bigger picture of the breakdwn of scoial democracy and wants to get in there and call themselves king of the world (see Salvini, Berlusconi, Trump, Le Pen, Macron, Orban, Wilders....).

He uses Brexit, that's his vehicle.

I don’t know about that.....Brexit fanatic David Davies was the man in charge of negotiations.

So the people doing the negotiations, be they leavers or remainers, were given an impossible task to begin with.

Sorry Khal. Just read this properly.

Yean I agree.

What I meant to say here is that the negotiators were basically given an impossible task due to the clangers dropped before the negotiations even started. Those clangers were dropped by May and her close people, most of whom were remain supporters.

Most of the negotiators were probably remain supporters too but they were led by a Brexiteer as you said. But they were already on a hiding to nothing by then, and as soon as they caved in to the EU insisting on WA before future relationship being discussed, it effectively killed off any chance if getting a deal through when nobody knew what it would look like.
