I like to see debate. I like to see people willing to stand up to the majority and debate. Sometimes people go too far and pay a price. Sometimes people cry and complain to the mods. It happens on all sides of the argument. I’ve been on here for 9 years and have never endorsed any form of racism/prejudice, even of the type that I posted regarding Remainers and Labour supporters prejudice towards Leave voters....

Hello false equivalence. Why is standing up to the majority (not the actual majority but your imagined majority) in itself a good thing?

Bloke I know has just had a letter from HMRC saying that as he appears to trade with Europe, he'll need a UK EORI (Economic Operator Registration and Identification) before October 31st to continue moving goods in and out of the UK. This was sent this week, so not a great deal of time to do so, and he doesn't actually trade goods at all, but services, of which the letter says nothing at all. This from a government that supposedly wants to encourage 'trading with the world'.
Bruce there are 2 months to go before we potentially leave. At least HMRC are making companies aware of what they need to do, and I'd imagine there was a telephone number for people to contact to ask questions like "I only trade services, do I still need to register". In addition the process could just be a 30 minute on line questionnaire. I don't know and I'm guessing you don't either. But you're making out every single process is a major obstacle.

The fact is it looks like we will get a chance to overturn the 2017 GE because the government has reached an impasse, exactly like what has happened with brexit. So what is the difference?

When it looked like no deal was the only show in town it should have been put back to the people with that or remain. I have no problems coping with democracy if the whole truth has been provided, not 'this will be the easiest deal in the whole of history' etc. The honest truth. These are the benefits, these are the negatives. If they still vote for no deal then fine, what I don't want is for 17.something million to say I didn't know this was going to happen when for example they struggle further to access the NHS because the problems will still be there and worse.

I don't want anyone to have a valid claim afterwards that they didn't understand, these people cannot be the victims if they have voted for their own downfall.
Problem is that the NHS will fail whatever. The increasingly aging population will put a strain on it that it will no longer be able to carry.A two tier system is virtually inevitable. And those who are crying foul because of the lies they were told will need to take a long look at themselves for being so naive whatever the final outcome. The whole thing has been a fiasco from start to where it is at present. As for the alleged negotiations...like playing poker and asking for your cards to be dealt face up.

But that doesn't automatically make it good. It's false intellectualism. Do you believe standing up to the majority is of itself a good thing?

Of course not, your own beliefs, knowledge and experience play into any discussion. Mind you, I also believe that 17,400,000 winning a vote should be respected......

Hes PM and smarter than May - I am far from a fan of his, and I cant vote for any of the present leaders , but its shows how stupid Corbyn was yesterday.......
you never ever for warn your enemy should have waited till Parliment resat and broached it -Now Boris has put the boot in first...

Actually it's shows those Corbyn detractors in Remain that indeed Corbyn is only keen to compromise for the good of the country, not stuck with a rigid thought.

And more importantly Johnson has now has given Tory rebels the excuse, do your maths...

Surely this level of Conservative naivety is by design Joey?

Forgive me if your platitudes don't mean a great deal to me (or my business) when they are just the figments of your imagination.

this is true, have been saying for ages he would pull this one, he is on a winner whichever way it plays out, I can't stand the man but he is one conniving b ugger and shouldn't be underestimated .
Yeah. This has Cummings written all over it.

You can't make demands that democracy be respected, and then pull stunts like this.

I don't agree with you on him being a winner whichever way it plays out though. It could turn out to be a huge mistake as there is a danger he may be funnelling his opposition into a position of unity. At the moment his opposition probably have the numbers, but not the unity of purpose to see it through. This may force their hand to all get behind Corbyn.
