Do you know the reason this exists? It is because we allow it to. We have been convinced this is the best way. We are convinced that to upset this system will mean punishment, loss of wages, benefits, homes. We have been told that wealth will trickle down to the benefit of everyone. We've been terrified to challenge even though we know and see suffering everywhere we go. We allow it to.

The Peterloo massacre was almost 200 years ago and in all that time we have allegedly advanced, putting man on the moon, internet taking over, second by second trading and nothing has changed, because we're told it can't. It can.

When Shelley wrote the poem in response of the massacre he included the lines...

Rise like Lions after slumber
In unvanquishable number,
Shake your chains to earth like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you-
Ye are many - they are few."

The last line.

I don't really think allowing it to exist is the reason why we have the status quo. I think history has shown that it is inevitable that corrupt souls will seek out power and consolidate it. Societal systems have been built on it like Feudalism and Capitalism. We are convinced that to upset this system will mean punishment because when people have tried to take back the power ("or the means of production") in nearly every case it has devolved into a tyrannical dictatorship.

Absolute disgrace this:

From the EU federalists. Juncker and Tusk.

They've pretty much just spat in the face of the 18 odd million REMAIN voters with this nonsense.

All because they're federalists. For their own personal beliefs not the good of the EU.

But as for this sort of nonsense. It has no place. Anywhere. Childish morons the pair of them.

Should never have got the jobs they did. Wouldn't have if the veto from UK remained.

I voted out & it had ZERO to do with immigration.

Some things such as free trade have been good but also bad, yes we can trade freely in Europe & live & work there which is something I have previously taken advantage of. But I've also lived in New Zealand where they told me they have been in recession since we joined, the place was a dairy farm for the uk & as soon as we signed up they were unable to sell to us due to the excess of products in europe ... europe dictating to us who we can trade with.

I have lost faith in the eu system & I see other countries that have as well, some as they head to the far right but that's something that will always be pushed as the reason, we are better off being the 1st to leave than being in when it all collapses as others do.

The fact that it is now being viewed as racist & anti immigration is insulting to those whose politics are on the left because the vast majority didnt vote out because of that
, yes there are some that have but in some cases because of the immigration issue being thrown about before the ref they started to think that voting that way meant that & so didn't, I also know people that were undecided with the ballot paper in their hand & went with remain because they went with what they are used to & unsure what would happen with dropping out due to the way the campaigns were run i.e. the scaremongering & the immigration issue.

I'd still vote the same if we had to do it a week later following the aftermath because my reasons remain the same.

I understand how people in the city & manc feel that they got more for the regeneration from eu than our Govt & thats why they voted to remain, I dont see that where I live 1/2 way between the 2 though & from the results a great many more in this area & most of the North also feel the same way as myself.

The only quandry I do have is if we all did it as it was a way of hitting back at our govt ? on that issue I can't decide yet, I disregard Boris & Farage & their campaigns as I dont think the tories are stupid enough to give them any power, the upside if they do is it could finish them off. The Labour party should be weighing in wearing steel toecaps whilst these are down but it appears they are intent on destroying themselves as well, hopefully it will cleanse the party of all of the blairites & semi tories that are in there.

Bang on the money there @Reidy's Bottle Of Grecian

I hope all those who were adamant that we should have voted 'Remain' read this article. Scary, soberly scary indeed. Is THIS what they wanted?

You are such a gullible tit.

Not clear, what did the pair say?

I agree with everything you've said until the last paragraph, which I find totally crass. These 'scroats' as you put it, are not to blame. They are not the ones doing the damage.

'Because they say they can't get a job'. You know as well as I do that jobs are few and far between, not due to migrants, but due to lack of industry and job creation. Who suffers? The 'scroats' as you put it. To make that claim that people are happy to claim benefits it's on part with something Jeremy Kyle would say. Awful.

I've said it before on here, but without assuming as to your background and circumstances, the greatest thing the Tory party has ever done is to turn the work class against the working class. Too many are too bothered about the lives of those they consider inferior than to look at the bigger picture. Look upwards. Who's fault is it that huge swathes of people are anti immigration? This isn't a collective conscious which has just decided to think that way, this thinking has been engrained into large parts of society, the downtrodden, those with few prospects, by the upper echelons for years.

Gonna have to involve meself again here to say "Great post"...And coming from someone who I disagree with on the referendum.

@ianefc.

Little bit of background here. I survive on 'benefits' Before the family (Well, the mother) of the lad I look after gave me the opportunity to look after him & claim carer's allowance and Income support, I was claiming JSA.

For my £10 a day, I had to become some sort of circus performer. I had to go to the 'welfare to work' programme once a month as well as sign every fortnight. "W2W programme - what's that?" I hear you say....Well let me tell you. It's where they send us 'scroungers' at the taxpayers expense to do mundane courses such as how to wipe our own arses, as shown here...

Nothing to do with them helping the 'doleites' finding work, everything to do with them stopping people's benefits if they were 5 mins late for an appointment, or even as much as disagreed with their agents.

I know - I seen it first hand meself. They changed my CV without my approval. They made up job descriptions for entirely different jobs I'd done. How does a postman suddenly manage/supervise a team of 8 warehouse operatives? I refused to use their CV, and they threatened to stop my dole.....Until I told them they be accomplices to the charge of 'Obtaining pecuniary advantage by deception' if the potential employer found out I'd never done what they wrote I'd done.

They soon changed their mind.... Not that it mattered, because the employer couldn't have contacted me by phone....Because they put someone else's number on my CV!

But the fact is, if I'd have got a job off my own bat, they'd have been paid YOUR tax pounds for me finding the work - even though they'd do sod-all....So who's the 'scrounger' there?

Don't tell me I couldn't find work, and don't generalise about people on benefits...And a lot of them are disabled, and a lot are black or ethnic minority; so not only is it unfair, it's also indirect casual racism, too.

Where was the EU in all of this? Well they didn't do much for my employment prospects, did they? They also stood idly by while disabled people have been hounded to find work when it's patently obvious they can't work. Some have even committed suicide after being told they were fit to work - but who'd employ them?

You gonna label them, too? Fortunately, the lad I care for doesn't need to go for a work capability assessment, but I know some of his friends have had to, and even I know they're not fit to work.

Your attitude to the less well off stinks, quite frankly.

There's a film out recently, called 'I, Daniel Blake'....Haven't seen it meself, yet, but I know the synopsis. I suggest you watch it when you can, you appear in need of education on the matter.

The same scroats who can't stop having kids despite having no means of supporting them. Give me immigrants over these leaches every time.

Hark at Jamie Oliver there...Can't have been much on, on their 50" telly's then, eh?

*Oh, and it's 'Leeches'... Even them immigrants know that :)

Hahahaha.

When looking at the newspapers in the shop if that one told me it was 29th June is look at the paper next to it to be sure and if it's neighbouring paper happened to be the Daily Mail I'd check a third paper again to be sure.

You're using one scenario that paints what I said in a bad light, if you think, on the other hand that there aren't people 'playing the game' then I'd say it's a touch naive. The benefits system is there to be used not abused. If it's used and not abused then who am I or who is anyone to have an issue with it? The answer is nobody, as I wouldn't.

What else do you expect from people like Junker, Tusk and the other horrible rats on the sinking ship that is the EU. They hate the UK and have never made a secret of it. Now that we've voted for Brexit Tusk and the others see no point in masking their hatred.
