I'm more concerned about the way broadcasters are going in this country mate.

They're becoming increasingly about the individual, the presenter and an agenda/narrative. Increasingly American.

Play the ball, not the man.

I think the standard of journalism is a mess that’s probably fair enough but if that introduction had been my paxman years ago I think he’d have been applauded for it .

Absolutely agree with this, but I think it's actually a simple question to answer.

Politicians can and should change their mind, it shows considered decision making. I'm much more keen to listen to reasons why people have changed their mind than have them backed into supporting a position that they no longer support. The 'conviction' politicians that refuse to change an opinion, they formulated at 16, despite complete change in circumstance are the ones that terrify me.

That's fine, but when there's an obvious contradiction in his viewpoint then he should be called out on it.

Absolutely.

This type of media vs MP narrative isn't helpful.

Sure, hold MPs to account but this isn't the right way to do it.

Not really mate, that particular politician bends with the wind. All he was doing was holding him to account, which is a journalists' job.

Significantly, its to an agenda - evidenced by the self pat on back tweets etc.

We're seeing an early shift to Fox News/CNN from UK broadcasters.

No clue on the man mate, I dare say it's a lot more complex than Krishnan Guru-Murthy makes it for his own ego/satisfaction.

If an mp consistently switches his views like that then he hardly represents anybody be that leavers , remainers or simply the electorate. I say he fully deserves to be challenged on his behaviour .

We have JRM and Johnson calling mays deal slavery and vassalage or saying it’s worse than staying in the EU but apparently now happy to support it . I’d suggest they’d benefit from such a challenge . So whilst I probably agree with you on the stare of British journalism its probably for differing reasons .

I believe the MP was attacked for Krishnan Guru-Murthy's own validation.

Corbyn nailed Krishnan Guru-Murthy when he labelled his approach "tabloid journalism". Jump to 1m55s.

He wouldn't be out of place on Fox News.

Such an attitude towards MPs, "us vs them" and stereotyping them all the same - is ... well, similar to;

No, I'm commenting on this particular MP, and indeed the Brexiteers on here, who get all moany whenever anyone has the temerity to challenge them. Brexiters aren't the victims here, so it would be more edifying if they didn't carry on like they were.

Oh absolutely. Especially when they are, and have, made political capital from it.

He's a bit of a microcosm of the thread this morning given that he's used false claims about Indian call centres to cause division in the past, suggested unemployed people should have vasectomies to stop wastage and resigned on principal about May's Chequers deal.

I've no sympathy for him being held to account as he's an absolute chancer. I don't see it as playing the man as it's not an attack on his character - which would be an open goal - but it's a stark recount of his political position.

Seemed a fairly straight forward line of inquiry to me. The government have repeatedly said there won't be the chance for the country to have a second think about matters, despite May herself having had two goes at it already and seeking a third. The MP being questioned has changed his own mind numerous times, so the journalist was asking why it's okay for him to do that but not the rest of us. How is that playing the man? How is playing the man to call into questions statements that politicians have made in the past that run diametrically opposite to what they say now?

You felt fit to suggest Tusk was lying so much his pants were on fire, yet seem happy to let Bradley have a free pass. I wonder why that might be?
