Ok, to save the anguish any further, Osborne's statement was based upon IFS models, which in turn were based upon scenarios from the National Institute of Economic and Social Research - https://www.niesr.ac.uk/sites/default/files/NIESR Brexit Press Release - May 16 fin.pdf

You'll note that the report says that in the aftermath of a vote to leave, sterling is likely to fall considerably, and growth will slow. Both of those things happened, and the Bank of England had to step in to print a few billion to shore things up.

You'll note that the NIESR models predict lower GDP of between 1.5% and 7.8% by 2030, dependent largely on the kind of relationship Britain ends up with. Now, factor this against Tory (and indeed Labour) pledges to end austerity, which essentially means balancing the books, the most optimistic NIESR scenario puts a £27bn hole in the public finances, and pushes that 'balancing the books' date out a year. Now, you tell me, do you reckon the government will have a surplus in the coming financial year? If not, then that's another prediction that the model got right, and the claim by Osborne that austerity would be extended were right. And that's before the kamakaze of any no deal situation.

I did an interview for a local radio station here in Munich recently from the perspective of a Brit who has recently gained German citizenship on the basis of Brexit. A throughly enjoyable experience.

So last week lidington the closest person to may , the bloke whose pretty much her deputy says a short extension is dangerously reckless and guess what May announces she’s after today ?

You can’t make this stuff up

She is also talking about bringing the MV back before Parliament!

Her behaviour is disturbed. I think she may well be suffering from some form of mental illness.

I’m sure there’s an ancient law somewhere in parliaments vaults that can force an unfit PM out-of-office.

I have mate. But the only references I can find are from Osbourne predicting a “cautious” economic forecast in the years following the vote. Hardly economic meltdown as you implied.

It's a bit like that Francois bloke with Will Self - (deliberately) misunderstand something, and then get outraged at the thing you've just (deliberately) misunderstood. The same happened with the ridiculous 'WW3' comments.

Yes she has lost the plot completely, does she really expect everyone to just say 'oh well we'll take your deal now.'

Hopefully the Tory remainers and the DUP see it as their responsibility to vote for a motion of no confidence if she keeps on this path. She needs removing pronto.
