Do you choose not to read up on this stuff or just ignore it? Regardless of the form of Brexit, we will struggle in the short term and very likely the long term. We won’t have trade agreements in place if we leave with no deal. So tariffs, customs delays etc etc drive up price and lower supply.
If we take May’s deal then it won’t be as bad as that but we’re not taking control of anything as we will still have to adhere to EU regs to trade with them. So having a much worse trade deal with one of our biggest trade partners. We then have to renegotiate trade deals with everyone else. But they will be easy right?
Oh, and we’d be potentially screwing Northern Ireland and Ireland. But no one really cares about do they as long as we have our sovereignty and f****** blue passports.
Add that Car manufacturers have already said they'd leave too causing thousands of job losses.
Also the government put out their proposal for tariffs on goods. And surprise surprise... everything goes up in price.
And basic economics is that in order to lure business back, incentives will be given. The idea that we have already the lowest corporation tax in Europe will get lower for an example.
Which leads to wage growth which has been stagnant in the UK for a decade. Will that change? Why would it when business is squeezing as much as they can for as little as they can.
People say other countries have prospered outside the EU like Switzerland for eg. They have. But they also pay £10k more per average salary than the UK which links in with living costs.
Overall one hand feeds the other. You need hands first.
