You could, erm, read the report and find out all of those things Pete :) It's freely available. Should make it as easy as possible I suppose - https://www.resolutionfoundation.org/app/uploads/2019/02/Counting-the-cost.pdf

And it still only covers a two year period, and my original comment still stands. Bruce if you are going to show graphs at least do it honestly. So here is a U.K. GDP growth rate chart, which shows what exactly ?. That our growth rate for Jan 2019 is exactly the same as July 2016. What does that tell you ? If I’d only shown July2016 to Jan 2017 what would that have told you ? What trend do you believe it is showing ? How does it relate to world GDP ? I understand data, I understand it’s interpretation and I also understand it’s misinterpretation to prove a point.....

I didn’t say that. I said he’s an idiot. The U.K. will do exactly as he says, but it would have been better not to try to build himself up in the process. So if an EU politician says stuff, are you saying I should believe them or not believe them ?....
They will probably do what is good for their countries, and for the EU. We are leaving the EU so they will not necessarily do what is good for us, unless it is also good for them.
Meanwhile, the bulk of our politicians are driving through a Brexit which they do not believe in - and many are compromised, on all sides. And Pete, whatever you thought you were voting for, I do know people who voted to leave who feel they were sold a pup. What is to lose in having another vote? If you are right and the deal on the table is the pups nuts, then the voters will nod it through, if not, they won't. Sounds like democracy to me.

Economic growth the slowest it's been since 2012.
"GDP slowed in the last three months of the year with the manufacturing of cars and steel products seeing steep falls and construction also declining.

"However, services continued to grow with the health sector, management consultants and IT all doing well."

who could've foreseen this?

From that article:
“Assuming an orderly Brexit, we expect the UK to also see unemployment flattening off, though a disorderly Brexit could lead to a marked rise of unemployment.”

Well we've gone from outperforming the G7 to underperforming it

As I've said before, there has been talk of an 'EU army' for decades, and we're still no nearer to having one, and we wouldn't have had one had we stayed in and used our voting rights.

“STRASBOURG — German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Tuesday endorsed the creation of an EU army, siding with French President Emmanuel Macron whose similar call in recent days drew wrathful tweets from U.S. President Donald Trump.
Merkel threw her support behind the idea in an address to the European Parliament, part of a series of leaders' speeches on the future of Europe.

"Jean-Claude Juncker already said that a common European army would show the world that there would never again be war in Europe," Merkel said, referring to the European Commission president, who was in the Parliament chamber.
"This is not an army against NATO, it can be a good complement to NATO," Merkel said. At the same time, Merkel noted that Europe faces numerous logistical obstacles to greater military and defense integration, including too many different weapons systems — more than 150 by her count, compared to 50 or 60 in the U.S.

Still, she said it is imperative that the EU pursue such integration, echoing Macron's view that Europe could no longer count on the United States. And she said that the EU needs to invoke treaty provisions that allow decisions to be taken by a qualified majority of member countries, without the customary unanimity that often blocks security and defense initiatives.

If only we were members of the EU and could veto that kind of thing, going forward

Once again, Brucie baby, you are about as accurate as Everton's attack last Saturday...

Clearly you haven't been keeping up with this thread.

There will no doubt be a short term cost, to both the U.K. and the EU, because of the stupid way the bureaucracy in Brussels is behaving. But, then we will trade sensibly either through a deal or via WTO, either will be fine, then we will increase our exports via FTA’s for which countries will be only too happy to accommodate........
Indeed, and I still hold that view. But we knew there would be a short term hit.....
So far, May has really been accommodating of the EU, thinking that they would reciprocate. She has little experience in neither negotiating nor European proclivity for arrogance. I really hope she has learned something this last week.

If she has, she will push no deal for all it’s worth and finally show the EU that we are not messing around. If she does, they will come back to the negotiating table and find solutions to those things that were impossible. And if they don’t then so be it, we will take a short term 2-3 year hit then progress, while they work out where to get their finance from........

You really should post the whole article you sourced the graph from.
https://tradingeconomics.com/united-kingdom/gdp-growth

Here's some highlights:

The GfK Consumer Confidence figures in December found that consumers were much less confident at the end of the year, with its reading at its lowest for more than five years.

Early estimates of business investment show it fell by 1.4 percent in the final quarter of the year. This is the fourth consecutive quarter in which such capital expenditure has fallen, the first such instance since 2009. In the latest Inflation Report, the Bank of England observe that this weakness appears to “primarily reflect Brexit and associated uncertainty”.

Compared with the same quarter in the previous year, the economy expanded by 1.3 percent. It has not been weaker since Q2 2012 and continues its relatively subdued performance over the last year. Considering 2018 full year, UK GDP increased by 1.4 percent, the weakest it has been since 2009.

Bruce, we underperformed against the G7 in 2009, 2010, part of 2012, it’s what happens. The graph shows the U.K. against a G7 average, which by definition means that unless all 7 are exactly the same then at any one point someone will be above the average and someone below it. The trend over the years however does not show some major catastrophe.....
