He sure ditched his principles when he bent over for the DUP.

And they told him to do one.
Hearing on the news tonight that he has described the backstop as a threat, which is music to the DUP ears.

Never thought I'd see the day where the leader of the British Labour Party was prepared to do a 180 degree turn, and kow-tow to a bunch of right-wing religious evangelists who espouse the most backward views on social issues that exist in both these islands, in pursuit of his lust for power.

Principled ? He's having a laugh. Jeremy Corbyn is Unionism's latest convert. It's very very sad indeed.

No, it isn't. If Parliament cannot pass this because of its own inclinations then why would they ask the people its opinion on it? A second Leave vote isn't going to make this deal any better, nor should it change the mind of any MP who opposes it (and just so we are clear, they are right to oppose this deal because its useless).

Parliament only has three choices at this point; it can either pass this deal, or set out the reasons why it cannot be passed (and again to be clear, there are real questions about the conduct of the Leave campaign including possible criminal offences) or find a deal that a majority can accept. The problem is that there is no majority for the first, no interest in the second (anyone who hasnt read Private Eye 1487 yet should read "Remaining Friends" on page 9) and the third has just been rejected.
So something has to give. That’s why I think they’ll agree to a people’s vote.

Don’t be daft. Just because he criticises the backstop (hasn’t everybody??) doesn’t mean he supports the DUP in everything.

Try to be reasonable!

only just seen that, looks like he said he wouldn't have a backstop that trapped them in it,
haven't seen a full transcript mate what has he said and your take on it?

vince cable on tv said he thinks corbyn is sitting back wanting a no deal , because the ensuing chaos would make it easy for him to win an election, now that its the calibre of man involved in this dont be suprised whatever happens from now on.

That is the same argument the Mail was making this morning, which perhaps should remind everyone of the Lib Dem period of collaboration 2010 - 2015.

It also gets us out of the EU which he would be bouncing all over his living room if that does happen.

No chance of him winning the election......listening to Diane Abbott on QT earlier convinces me of that.

No transcript edge, it just popped up on TV tonight during a political programme.

My take on it ? This is a man who has courted militant republicanism and who is now siding with the most royalist party there is in the UK. If that isn't abandoning your principles I'm not sure what is.

that would be fine if people had in fact changed there minds ,
I haven't met anybody of either side who has gone the other way.
People from the remain side keep saying that leavers were lied to and now know different ,if that's true surely there would be hundreds of thousands if not millions of people up in arms about it from the leave side about it
i haven't seen any sign of it no matter how many time people (remainers)say it.
The full facts , what are those do you know the details of the deal we are going to get, if indeed there is one please share, if not its at best speculation, and has about as much validation as the horoscope section in the echo.

As for people not voting good, really?
So long as you get your way it doesn't matter if we alienate people
wasn't that one of the very reasons people voted out in the north, because the felt
left behind and not listened to, haven't you learned anything from this or don't you care?
that's the type of thinking that has got us where we are currently.
I’ve met and heard coverage and sound bites from plenty people who have. The fact is we know far more about what Brexit means. It means a number of jobs that indirectly generated a lot of wealth in this country have moved overseas. It means that systems that have kept the country’s supply chain running for years are under threat, hence why the government has had to court ferry companies to open new routes. The easiest deal ever hasn’t transpired as the dream that Farage et al. sold to the masses doesn’t exist.

The problem is that a lot of the Northern towns that voted out are cutting their nose off to spite their face and are far more reliant on the EU than they realise, be it through being part of a supply chain (for example the NE sees over 50% it’s go to the EU, worth about 7 billion) or having actually received EU grant money that have actually made their areas better places.

If people are deluded enough to think that every London centric government since time began is going to change its spots, then people are very much mistaken. So I don’t see the problem in people who lack the ability to vote on an issue without understanding it actually affects them and being able to have their opinions challenged, are they actually people you want voting, or is that how we end up with the political duds we have today?
