I agree with sentiment, but there are always external factors that will influence markets. They may not be anything to do with Brexit. Or they might be.

So, to seize on a market movement and blame/praise Brexit for it is, as I said, wrong.

One small example. The high street in the UK has had a torrid time. Shares in shops therefore fall. Dragging the FTSE down. Is that to do with Brexit? Might be. Might not be.
Oh yeah I get that part that currency markets are indicative of the health of a economy with bits changing it all the type - for example when the interest rates changed it affected the exchange rates. However the drops the day after the vote and the drops in subsequent days when things like the May deal was first announced for me were fairly damming to me.

But could have been the Hedgies laying off, taking profit, or playing the futures. Or it could have been a direct reaction to the deal.

Ergo, to blame/praise Brexit to prove a point is wrong. Now a long term sell off/drift, with traders explicitly citing Brexit as THE reason for it is a different matter. To my knowledge, we havnt seen that. Yet.

But I will happily concede that all markets hate uncertainty, and prices/volatility will reflect that. And Brexit has deffo delivered that.

On your bike Pete. It is leave voters who have ruptured the country on their pipe dream of leaving. The very least they can do is explain how they believe their actions will improve things for people residing here. That you want to slither away from even that basic responsibility is fitting given the cowardly way the whole leave campaign has been undertaken. You're not whatabouting your way out of this one, and shame on you for even trying.
Perhaps we could start with eliminating child poverty in this country

Remainers in charge? Give over. The Tories are the ones pushing this along and the last time I looked they are in government. The problem is all they can do is bitch from the sidelines as they know what they want isn't possible as crashing out would have to lead to a hard border in Ireland. If there was an easy solution you would think we would have found it by now. So we get May's deal which is effectively kicking the can down the road but also leaves us in limbo.
Crashing out would not mean a hard border at all, that would be Britains or the EU's choice. We do not have to implement a hard border,if the EU want a hard border that would be for them to implement

Except that you will have an open unmanned land border with the EU after leaving, so you are not tightening your borders at all and anyone who wants to enter the UK can just walk in at will.

This claim about tightening borders and keeping 'nutters' out is a contradiction and a lie.
Some of their responses about the Irish border are hilarious. Pete, can you tell me, once again, what your proposed solution is? If you can, Brexit is sorted. If you can't, you come across as a clown/phoney.

Leave the border open. The CTA between ROI and U.K. demands that for people anyway. Even the ROI have had to admit that the CTA, which was in place before the E.U. existed takes precedence. In terms of goods, computerised systems from point of despatch and origin can be altered to take into account any import/export duties. We already do this for all goods coming into the U.K. from outside of the E.U. anyway, and also for onwards transit into the E.U.....

And before you start calling anyone a clown or a phoney you should look to your own posts.....

That is open to massive abuse. These duties can be calculated due to the shipment having to go through a point of entry hub in another country. Once stuff has got into Ireland nothing is stopping someone loading it on a truck and driving it over the border. Unless we start checking goods between the mainland and NI which will see them kick off, a middleman could cream a little percentage and circumvent the UK from paying whatever tariffs it should be.

Peanuts. Absolute peanuts and not even worth worrying about. Meanwhile the E.U. and the U.K. will suffer because of no deal.....the tail is wagging the dog here.....

Who knows what these values would be, almost impossible to say, might be tiny, might spring up massive business to take advantage of the situation. I'm guessing one or both sides take it more seriously than you and that is why it isn't an option on the table (Apart from the keep it in mind in case there is a way in future to monitor goods across a border seamlessly).

It's not like we are springing this out of nowhere to put a spanner in the works. Conventional wisdom usually dictates you have a hard border between a country and another where there is not an agreement in place. Unfortunately there is historical and political reasons why that might be difficult. So the options for leavers are stay in the common market and accept free movement etc. Or Leave N.Ireland as a separate entity and have the checks between the mainland thus probably killing the UK as Scotland won't be happy, as well as effectively letting NI go. Or put up a hard border and deal with the fallout. As nice as your way sounds on paper anything else is just wishing for a magical outcome where the EU just turn around and say you are a great bunch of lads, you can have access to the market and forget about all the rest of the nasty stuff. It's not going to happen. There would be an uprise in nationalism across the EU throwing the whole continent in danger. It is rock and hard place for everyone in this.

So no problem the U.K. signing up to the backstop as part of May’s deal mate?

That’s what I think you are describing there.
