Pathetic. Even a 2nd referendum would give people an option (presumably) of no deal, May's deal or staying in. That even after two years plus decades of campaigning, you can't explain why you voted the way you did and how your choice would help people is little short of shameful.

I know full well what the EU has brought to society both here and across Europe, but I'm not giving you a target to take pot shots at with the usual ill thought out rhetoric. This is your [Poor language removed] show - man up and take responsibility for it.

The day that the Remainers (government, civil service and the Blairs of this world) stop trying to stab the result in the back and get behind the fact we are leaving would help. The Remain argument all along has been to take ‘pot shots’ at the leave vote. Old, didn’t know what they voted for, Racist, Little Englander, this was the Remain debate. Even now, no Remainer will come out with a definitive set of reasons that would convince anyone to remain, other than a fear of actually leaving, sorry ‘crashing out’. Yet ask them for why we should remain or rejoin and it all goes very quiet.......

I CBA looking, but I pretty much said that after the vote. Our elected representatives, (them making our rules and that), unfortunately have not exactly set a tone we could unite behind though, have they? On all sides.

I think we can agree on that.

Our politicians, all of them, have made a complete Horlicks of this....we can definitely agree on that....it’s just a pity that those in charge all happen to be Remainers....

I think its stretching things to suggest a conspiracy, more a fact that whoever dealt with it was playing with a terrible hand in an unwinnable game.

So, now that Romania is in charge of the EU all should be well....

Guardian...

“Romania’s government has been accused of seeking to turn the clock back on years of democratic reforms as it prepares to take charge of the European Union’s rotating presidency for the first time on 1 January.

The European commission warned the government in November that it was backtracking on progress made since joining the EU in 2007, while the European parliament passed a resolution voicing “deep concerns” at legislation that has the potential to weaken the rule of law.

MEPs also condemned “the violent and disproportionate intervention by police” in Bucharest in August, when police used water cannons and teargas to disperse anti-corruption protesters.

One proposal being closely watched is an amnesty to protect politicians from prosecution for corruption, such as Liviu Dragnea, regarded as the most powerful man in Romania. A businessman-turned-politician, Dragnea is the leader of the Social Democratic party but was barred from becoming prime minister when his party won power in 2016 because of a conviction for vote-rigging.”

Sounds just the bunch to lead the EU.......

That's irrelevant. You're saying that remainers are sabotaging something that has never been explained. I'll ask again. What exactly is the leave that people voted for, and how will that form of leaving benefit this country? Once again, I would like you to be specific rather than generic, so if you feel sovereignty is important, say which laws you wish to regain control of and how doing so will help people. If you can back up your views with a respected authority agreeing with you then even better.

Sadly, not only do I not expect you to be able to do this, but absolutely no one from the leave camp has been able to do this. They weren't able to do so before the vote, and haven't done so in the two years since the vote.

I wish this was the first time you've shown such a poor grasp of how the EU works, but alas. Firstly, the role is not in any way, shape or form, analogous to leading the EU. As the name suggests, they are chairmen of the council, no more, no less, and they hold that position alongside officials from Finland and Croatia as part of the trio, and they work on policy collectively during their 18 month collective period in the post.

As the council is akin to the house of lords, the chair of that council is no more powerful than Baroness Evans of Bowes Park (who I'm sure you know incredibly well, being so politically literate)

Remainers in charge? Give over. The Tories are the ones pushing this along and the last time I looked they are in government. The problem is all they can do is bitch from the sidelines as they know what they want isn't possible as crashing out would have to lead to a hard border in Ireland. If there was an easy solution you would think we would have found it by now. So we get May's deal which is effectively kicking the can down the road but also leaves us in limbo.

Any side that uses short/medium movements in currency, stock, or commodity markets to prove or disprove anything Brexit related is frankly, wrong.
Hmm. I’ve always been taught that the currency markets are one of the better indicators of sentiment. What makes you say otherwise?

I agree with sentiment, but there are always external factors that will influence markets. They may not be anything to do with Brexit. Or they might be.

So, to seize on a market movement and blame/praise Brexit for it is, as I said, wrong.

One small example. The high street in the UK has had a torrid time. Shares in shops therefore fall. Dragging the FTSE down. Is that to do with Brexit? Might be. Might not be.
